Life is what you make of it. Yes it may be. However we all walk around daily and wonder why we cant get along with the people we meet. I am showing you why as we speak. It is because no one is subtle any more and everyone assumes that we mean one thing. The art of expression is meaningless and has no true queen. We all roam day to day wondering, "What, oh what did he or she say?" All of us want answers with no clue yet we all pray. My answer to this, is as simple as three letters. We all need to remember that honesty has no definition. We render its condition. Unfortunately in today's society we all expect so much that we have no sense of the subtle. Because life is out of touch.

And that, is creative writing. In whatever sense "Mingle" wanted us to use this forum for unless we were writing poetry.

My answer to the question was "spoken" but not written-- hence creative writing.

Oh how I wish more people thought like you. Life would be so much better if individuals practiced the art of subtlety.

Everything has to be so blatent and "in your face" these days...no sense of flirtation, fun, or anticipation. SIGH...I miss the simple life!

It's because I am Cyberdyne model 101, the T-800. I cannot express my feelings, because I am a robot... a terminator...

the dirty dogs of Akron are everywhere
I see them everywhere
in movies
in other cities of the world
but I've seen the whores of
Hamburg only once

they stand like eternal beings
waiting

of course
they are not eternal

and they were standing in the rain
the whores of Hamburg were standing in the
rain
waiting
to feed upon that thing in man
which is not quite satisfied with
anything
waiting
for men who are lookin for
what has been lost
having a woman without pain
for either the man or the woman

the whores of Hamburg
leaning against the fenders of
parked cars
in the rain
were a symphony to me~
from a distance
closer up I knew there woulod be
trouble and terrible failure
if not pain

and there they stood
in bad weather
lines of them waiting

the dirty dogs of Akron are
everywhere

but the whores of Hamburg were
beautiful
that day

Creative writing can be a rant or a ramble. Journal entry style I call it. Does it make people react? Does it make people stop and think? Is it reflective of your thoughts and cause others to stop and reflect too. The form can be rough and rambling or spit and polished til it glows - if it touches somebody somewhere and causes some kind of response something has indeed been created.

"Subtle" can be good in the right circumstances...I suppose it would depend on anyone's intentions behind subtlety, yet, subtle can also be a form of anger or passive aggressiveness, if someone is unable to be direct in an open/honest humane way.

If subtle is the "answer," than how can people truly know what is being communicated? People can be direct without "getting up in someone's face," in a manner of speaking.

A couple definitions of "Subtle" ...

..."Faint and difficult to analyze"

..."Working or spreading in a hidden and usually injurious way"

I am somewhat confused as to why subtle seems to "trump" direct...
It seems that direct is more honest, and can always be communicated in a healthy way if one has healthy communication skills.

I am trying to understand your write, your communication....not criticize it.

guess i thought i made it clear...sorry

ill work on that i guess

the point of my write was talking about lying....how people need to use subtlty to lie better, yet we dont.

people now days lie about stupid things and then the big ones they lie about "point blank" and its obvious

what i meant with the whole subtlty thing was that they need to "lie" better, by being more subtle

so the answer is three letters....lie

Hey there, I hear your message. It's like I told smiles, there are no SET rules for style and creativity, you put out what is you. And the forum does say "Poetry AND Creative Writing". That was as subtle as a piano on the head, but there ya go!laugh drinker waving
