They'll do dating sites, banking, ebay, and all sorts of things and try and get you to go to a fake site or a porn sight. Or install spyware or other nasty things.

exactly, but look at it this way, substitute ANY dating site in there. Its just a phishing attempt to get either a password or you to go to some nasty site. So delete and don't worry.

you miss the point

the only way they could know this address is if they hacked mingle

or

if someone with access to the info gave it out

if the site was hacked they need to know so they can fix there security

it is not Mingle giving it out.........these people have ways of getting it. They use computer programs that come up with every possible letter and number configuration and then send their emails out making you believe that they got it from Mingle.

but that email does not correlate withe the screen name here

nor the other email address i use for private contacts

so i doubt that is what happened

If your email addy is the same, or similar to your username here, all they have to do is play around with it a bit.

All my email addies are completely different to my username on various sites and I have no problem whatsoever.

what happens is they fire emails out to a bunch of random email addresses, all with the same message. And the only ones that worry, are the ones that actually know what the email is referring to. Its kinda like an old war dialer back in the day, it'd call every number and find which phones were modems. Don't worry about it, its nothing at all.

We have not changed our policy on users' email addresses and nobody has hacked into our site, adj4u. If either of these things ever happens, you can bet the house that we would inform all of our customers.
