Depends on how long ago they were widow(er)ed.

Been there. Know the pain. If it's too close to the death, it's too soon.

Why would I be afraid of a woman who lost her spouse through death? I'm a helluva lot more afraid of a three time divorced woman who has kids from each marriage.

Being both divorced and widowed I see how people could have reservations about either. Not everyone who looses a spouse had a good marriage but at least they chose to be in it and that tells me that it is a relationship they feel comfortable to attempt at least once and went the distance. While I know that many people get divorced for a variety of reasons but I have sadly found that for a lot of people there is a good reason they are single. I will say I have much more respect for someone who gives a bad spouse the boot rather than spending years as a victim. People who are multiply divorced sometimes have good reason. Blending families with children is a major challenge. If you add in special needs family members, catesrophic financial hurdles, or even natural disasters it can be more than some can handle.
