Taking the action is one thing. Them ACCEPTING the action is entirely another.

you know...sometimes I think you might be just a bit cynical...

I could be wrong...

u mean a union?

Collective goals, unions have their own set of goals that differ from the members of that union. At least that's how it is in the states, different out there across the big blue?

I'm talking about an uprising, collectively geared in one direction with one goal.
this whole younger generation has it all backwards, they lost all respect

NOT true...the younger generation has realized that so many of the so-called "ideals" of their parents were really just ways to discriminate or keep people down. they are seeing through the falsehoods and changing the future.

respect is earned, not just given.

I'm sorry, but I do have to address this. While I will wholeheartedly agree that respect is earned, not just given, I have to disagree about the rest of it. These so-called "ideals" that you speak of....let's have a bit of a look at some of those.

The crime rate is higher today than any time in history.
The divorce rate is higher today than any time in history.
Court battles (people suing, as well as being sued) are higher today than any point in history.
Jails and prisons are overcrowded, more than any time in history.
Gays are coming out of the woodwork, looking for their piece of the "equality" pie, more than any time in history.
Gangs and violence are more prevalent today than any time in history.
Juvenile delinquency is higher today than any point in history.
Inflation is higher today than any point in history.
Plain old stupidity has consistently increased to an all-time high.
Education is at an all-time LOW.
Personal accountability is at an all-time low.

The list is endless.

My point is, up until the point when all of these "ideals" started to be questioned, the problems we face today didn't exist. Sure, there were SOME problems, but certainly not to the extent they've become in today's world. Now, we're all hip-deep in sh!t, and people are wondering what went wrong, what happened.

NOTE: This is NOT directed at you personally, just to the topic in general.

sorry, i missed this earlier. you guys kept me busy in other areas...

how much of what you state is because of a HUGE difference in population? people are less likely to commit crimes upon each other when they can't even reach them. how much is because of increases in technology?

"gays are coming out of the woodwork"? did you really just say that? i, for one, think this is a HUGE positive in our new generation. i'll trade higher crime rates for leaps in human rights any day of the week.

each generation is less prejudiced than the one before...and they are learning to think for themselves, not blindly take what the church and their elders shove down their throats.

how much of the crime rate is because of better reporting? there was plenty of violence toward the wife and kids in the old days that NEVER was reported. nobody said a word.

i LIKE that my children are their own people. i LIKE that they constantly question...authority AND themselves. and i like that change is in the air.

Seriously, I really just can't put the same amount of faith in most of the youth of today that you are able to. By and large, I haven't been shown the effort from them required to have that type of faith. Perhaps you can, and that's fine, I have no beef with that. These two young gentlemen who have posted in this thread are part of the few....the exception, rather than the norm. It used to be the other way around.

I wouldn't be so presumptuous as to say ALL the youth of today, but I would certainly be willing to say MOST.

Then I guess we will agree to disagree.

But that's exactly my point....nothing WILL solve the problem. Not anymore. We've wandered too far into unfamiliar territory, we've gotten a taste of it, and too many people have embraced it. Wrong or right, there's no going back anymore. Nobody's at fault, it's just the way that it is.

How can you say this? You actually believe that nothing can solve the problems? really?

of course you cannot go back...THAT is not anything new...you could NEVER go back and you know I do not use absolutes very often at all!!

You have to go forward...learning from the past mistakes, but making a new way...new possibilities...new life...new world...

The possibility is there..it always was and always will be...

The difference is...some people will not be a cause in their own possibility and therefore will settle for what is..what is done to them...and then have the ballz to sit and biatch about it!!

come on people....get on the road to shambala!!

Wash away my troubles, wash away my pain
With the rain in Shambala
Wash away my sorrows, wash away my shame
With the rain in Shambala

Everyone is helpful, everyone is kind
On the road to Shambala
Everyone is lucky, everyone is so kind
On the road to Shambala

How does your light shine
In the halls of Shambala
How does your light shine
In the halls of Shambala

I can tell my sister 'bout the flowers in her eyes
On the road to Shambala
I can tell my brother 'bout the flowers in his eyes
On the road to Shambala

How does your light shine
In the halls of Shambala
How does your light shine
In the halls of Shambala
Tell me how, how does your light shine
In the halls of Shambala
Tell me how, how does your light shine
In the halls of Shambala

How does your light shine?

and you know what? the past was not as great as one might think...90 years ago it was legal and expected to beat your wife/women...

people were oppressed for many things...

work was back breaking literally, and there was many illnesses that came from those jobs...

there are changes that have been wonderful...

really...going backwards is not healthy for the most part...

again in order to band together we would have to stop arguing ... which is what ive seen in this topic alone.. we would have to stop shooting each other down in the streets.. there would be a lot of things we would have to stop doing in order to even begin to think about making any changes happen. like someone said bfore america is lazy and then blames everyone else for their problems. the falling economy is the reason i cant get a job.. the reason i live in a crappy apt rather than a house is the failing economy ect ect. i think the first step to anything is to stop laying blame and start taking responsibility for our own situations and do something about it.
