no you are right they could fly to city we are racing in that week but they would not be allowed in the pits or the hospitality area. they would be treated like spectators and i would lose my job I posted an earlier comment and the guy I referred to who was childish and insecure gave this same excuse when he was on the road. I found out he had another girl by his side and I got the "no wives or girlfriends" allowed line. I offered to buy and ticket to his show, and stay near-by, but he had another list of excuses as to why that was not possible. He was just lying about everything. Hmmmm ....  well thats the rules of the team to put it bluntly the rule is no **** in the pits. they think if we have guest, wifes girlfriends,moms ect... its a distraction and we are not focused on the job it has nothing to do with a "woman on the side" and you just prooved my point because i cant have a girl go with me right away its because another woman is involved.... wow.. been there and heard that all too many times |

I would think that if good, solid communication was consistent, then the trust would be grown and maintained... the thing is...the one at home can be the one to 'cheat' just as easily as the one on the road...just sayin... |

She cant be in the pits...OK, I can see that.
BUT, why cant she be in the stands, watch the race and then see you after the race at the hotel etc... |

we can make phone calls after we finish work but there are no set hours or time cards. we finish when we finish. and then there is that thing called time change where im up at 700 and have time to call but its only 400 where she is, so she calls when she gets up and i cant answer because im working that is how it usually starts. then she is pissed all weekend. i cant wait to get home and she cant wait to fight. lol alot of times i leave three days after i get back

She cant be in the pits...OK, I can see that. BUT, why cant she be in the stands, watch the race and then see you after the race at the hotel etc... Exactly! I've dated Supercross racers that were sponsored, professional musicians, etc, and I've never heard of this excuse unless there was something fishy going on. Your 'bosses' cannot dictate who is in the stands, in the crowd, or whatever.

Basically your back to finding a very strong woman that can handle it.
You would both have to find ways to let each other know you are thinking of each other. Texting each other while your sleeping. You could always ship things home from each place you are racing at. Even if it got to her after you were home she knows that you were thinking of her. Its all those little things that can help keep you together. When you get home you have to make special time for each other to make it count. Good Luck |

first of all sorry for the type o's i broke 3 fingers this weekend and its a little difficult to hit the keys i want. all im saying its easier to date than to have relationship when you traval. from what i have seen and experienced women cant handle their man being gone withou thinking they're cheating. im only one guy on one team but i see this problem with alot crew members both drag racing and nascar

As an ex Military brat and Military wife I have seen family's get torn apart by the separation and some get stronger. There is a huge diff in going off to race and to fight for our country but the same thing is still there. You have to let each other know your there, you care.
There is a diff between feeling alone and being lonely. You can be lonely laying in the bed next to your man/woman. You can be alone and not feel lonely because you have a very full life. You both would have to make sure the other did not ever feel lonely together or apart. It takes very strong people to pull it off. |
