There are a lot of people on the site who are from the IL/IN area but
they never post and they don't reply to messages! So why are they here
in the first place?

Because they think this is MySnakes!

(But it isn't....)

Actually, I don't check my mail every day. I usually check it every
other day or maybe every 3 days or so. Some people just don't get on
here every single day...so please just give them time to answer your
emails!!
So whats going on anyways?? Not much here in Indiana...the weather has
been nice todayflowerforyou My son is graduating on Friday so my week
is going to be very busy

Unsure -- I think 3 weeks is more than sufficient for someone to compose
and send a one-sentence reply....!

There's a difference between being busy for a couple days, and outright
rudeness....

I'm pretty new on here so I thought I'd introduce myself to all the
Chicago Area people. How successful have you guys found this site?

Sop -- This is the best site I've tried (out of about 47,817 total) --
the whole trick is to post on the forums, because that's how we get to
know about you and your thoughts and beliefs and stuff, and reading our
posts will let you get to know the same things about us.

There are lots of great people here, I have made some amazing friends.
Once people get to know you, the e-mails and IMs will be coming in (if
you want them to!).

The guys who run the site are helpful and approachable any time you have
a problem, if it's something that one of us normal people can't answer,
but most of the time we can!

The only downside for me, personally, is the lack of local people who
actually get involved with the site. There are a considerable number of
Illinois/Indiana people here (based on the results I get from my search
parameters), but they just don't seem to have any interest in
participating in the forums or in responding to e-mails!

Other than this bizarre local "black hole," I find very little to
complain about here. Oh sure, we have the occasional troll who comes in
just to insult people (had a really dumb one just a few days ago!) but
they are dispatched fairly quickly.

I think you'll really like the place once you know your way around!

Thanks! I'll try to keep posting in the forums and see where it gets
me. I've been reading some of the things people have posted, and you
are right... it's is a lot of the same people on here all the time. At
least you can add one more person to the Chicago area community!

WHAT'S UP CHICAGO?!?!

I would have to agree with most people that the problem with this site
is that it is kinda slow... but, together, WE CAN CHANGE THAT!! Right
people!?

I'm crazy... and home sick from work... lets keep me entertained people

Sop, I've been trying to come up with a way to get people to use the
Chicago forum. Tried posting about a particular town (Orland Park),
thinking that might get some feedback from people who lived around
there, or who had been there.

I've tried cajoling and coaxing and needling and subtle psychological
torture and everything short of a Papal decree. (He won't listen to me;
I'm not Catholic.)

And I just can't get anybody to post here. To steal a line from Yul
Brynner, "It's a puzzlement."

But we're not alone -- Green Eyed Hippie Chick tells me they have the
same problem with the Houston forum.

I think it's reflected somewhat by the fact that I get plenty of JSH
e-mail from people in Canada and New York and California, and even some
from Europe, but almost none from anyone local.

The locals just aren't all that interested in participating. And that's
sad because there are so many great and interesting and fun people here,
so many things to discuss, so many people to get to know....

And I have my search parameters set up to show people within 150 miles,
and there are a LOT of them cycling through the home page. Some I see
there 2 or 3 times a day; but they never post.

I do wonder sometimes why someone would join a site and then never
participate. Well, I've done that myself, with sites that had no
forums, or were just full of idiots, or had nothing to offer; so I guess
my real question is why would someone join THIS site, with all it has,
and then never participate....?

Honestly, I've been on JSH since December, and you are only the second
local (of the ones I have seen cycling through) I have ever seen post on
the Chicago forum. A couple of others have posted in some of the forums
higher up on the list, but the less said about them, the better!

Sorry to hear you're not feeling well -- but, hey, a day off is a day
off, right? At least now you'll have something to read!

GEHC -- It's a blip. Unsure has posted here before, but Mike and Sop
are the only newer ones so far that are likely to be more than one-shot
or very occasional posters here.

Maybe we need to merge Houston and Chicago into one huge city with 7 or
8 people who actually post!

Merge with a few more cities and we might actually get up to a dozen
people!

Although that might get hard to keep track of....

Let's just go to Canada, everybody there is very nice and willing to
talk!
