Racism and other form of prejudice will ALWAYS be a factor, not only in the dating world, but in life in general. It is in our genetic make up to be untrusting of those who are different from us, whether those different be because of race, religion, sexual preference, weight, eye or hair color, or educational/social status.

but to put ones self as "other" personaly makes me feel like E.T or alien if u will. With the help of proper education i belive we can kill racism.

I believe people in general are just confused to begin with.

here's why the topic was started.I'm an mutt, i'm half black and half white. But in today's society i'm look at as a black man. i'm not complaining or anything just that when it comes down to the way other people look at me the have no idea that i was raised by my white side, and grew up into my black side. And i'm saying all this to prove a point. if u look at my profile it says black. no where in the selection of choices does it say mixed or multi-background. I feel till that untill u can choose a more correct way of identifying ourselves that racism will never die.and i'm very sad to say that.

I really wish there was an option to put "multi-racial". I often feel like if I pick one over the other I am denying my heritage or being deceptive.

It is really sad Mikey but you are right. Hopefully with more public education people will learn better.

Too many people derive POWER from WHATEVER RACISM still exists in this country and abroad...whether they have ACTUALLY BEEN the "victim", or merely claim to be.
It is an all too tempting weapon and/or tool to wield in the everyday altercations of life...only a human, knee-jerk reaction in times of great stress. Understandable. However, when this tool/weapon is passed along, might it burn the hand of one who may wield it in truth?
Racism is a demon that, feeling its' demise is near, becomes all the more aggressive as it is slips into the deepest pit of hell where it belongs. It is self-replicating, but is not without its' own enemies...understanding, and forgiveness. Understanding strikes at the heart of racism; forgiveness discourages further growth.
If we as a society are to "hate" anyone, let it be those who threaten peace between the races, characterized by their deceit, not merely their skin color.

to answer your question, OP, I think the average person has a problem with dating, no matter what color they are.

it's up to you how you choose to define yourself. if you want people to know you're biracial, indicate that on your profile, there's a section to write about yourself. if you just want to be known as a cool person, show people that about you. JMO

ADVERTISING will be the ultimate reflector of blacks and whites having finally melded into "Americans" as a whole.
QUESTION: Has anyone ever noticed this most curious thing about advertising on television, print media, even the internet: In a commercial, if there is a scene involving a woman (of any race...), one or more black men, and a single white man, and the script calls for someone to play the fall guy, IT WILL BE THE WHITE MAN, EVERY TIME.
DITTO if the scene depicts a white woman/women and one or more white males. Again, the white male(s) will play the "fall guy".
It seems obvious that when those of other races play the "fall guy" in advertising every now and then, this will be a supreme indicator that we are all truly "Americans".
Advertising reflects the health of our society.
