or practising diplomacy?

What an interesting place I find myself in..

I have an opportunity to be a 'voice' of many, here in my home town. To
speak on their behalf, and to have their message heard...to those that
make the decisions, within politics, at a State, and Federal level, for
these people.

So, two options...dance the dance, of the music that already plays,
amongst politicians, and the political process, or create a new beat?

Try to incorporate some of the existing music into new rhythms, to
create and synchronise a new dance?

Or damn it all, strap on the combat boots, stomp on the eggshells, and
just blast them away with the truth?

How often do we go through our days, our lives, treading on eggshells?

Saying what we think other's want to hear?

How often do we speak, with truth and clarity, and yet, ensure the
message is heard?

Political correctness, was, I believe, initiated for education in
respect...as many had not learnt that behaviour.

But political correctness, is almost an oxymoron...so how does one
approach such a dichotomy?

Practising diplomacy.....what is it?

UMMMMMMMMMMM That's soooo not me...I break the egg-shells when I walk on
then because I refuse to tread lightly!!!!!!

I will be me regardless with nothing practised or pre-prepared...However
I am good at diplomacy...not what others want to hear...BUT in the way I
choose to state things...BUT that's who I am...My words and actions are
always me!!!!!!

Hi Jesse,
I do believe in speaking truth to power but in a compassionate way.
The American Friends Service Committee offers training in this type of
diplomatic ways to be a change agent. There are many places you can find
out more about EFFECTIVE conflict resolution, peace and social justice
work. This is part of hat I do in my daily walk as well. I believe the
choice to synchronize without compromising principles is what I would
choose. Conflict resolution training is essential to create a way opened
for the most positive outcomes. peace be to you sister, Ginny PS love
you most recent pics!

Good Morning to you..flowerforyou

Shelley...my way has always been to stomp over eggshells, with
truth...in arenas where it is effective, however, this arena, is a whole
new ballgame...

Ginny, effective conflict resolution, is an art I have been learning,
and a practising student of, within my field, and my life, for so many
years.

To have a voice, on environmental, social welfare, and agricultural
issues, on a local level, for some who cannot speak, for all those that
are entitled to a voice, is the pressure I am feeling.

Diplomacy...I believe I have a grasp of it...I understand assertion,
rather than agression, however, the time I have in direct contact with
State and Federal Ministers, will be limited, and maximising efficiently
the time I have with them, and still have the issues tabled, is the
challenges I have.

It is like learning a foreign language!!! I wasn't taught the 'duck and
weave' speak...and I feel the importance of this opportunity, the weight
of it.

(And thankyou, in regards to the picsblushing)

Ms. Jess

You are impressive to all that read or hear your words, I am sure. I
think you do "bounce & weave" just fine. You just do it your way. If
you decide to take this position, you will do YOUR best, which is all
that can be asked. You might not be recieved as you would like to be,
there is nothing you can do about that. I would wager, your words will
be the truth & in the best interest of all around you. The world NEEDS
more people like you, to stand up/speak up/take the risk & talk of
altrenative ways to deal with things. We need to take this world back,
if poss. If you try, YOU might make a difference.
GOOD LUCK.

Thanks Sage,

The responsibility is the challenge...eggshells was never my forte...

The stakes are high...so diplomacy is paramount...and learning the
language..

I was interested to hear how people manage situations that call for
diplomacy, and to still look at acheiving the outcomes they desire.

As you can see from my post yesterday about being too nice, Jess there
has to be a balance. Strap on the combat boots if you believe in your
convictions. To hell with walking lightly but carry a big stick. Just
stomp right on in where you won't have to carry a big
stick.flowerforyou

How did I miss this one Lee?...

Wow...I have no "good" advice here, because I am NOT a "good"
politician...as I am not a "yes" man... Amongst the "politicians" that I
know, which are a small microcosm of what your situation seems to be,
all of the "good" ones last for some time...and must fit in somewhere,
without making waves...

Ahhh, that is a fine line to walk...For myself, when the overwhelming
need for improvement in a given area calls for laying it on the
line...undoubtedly this requires magnifying someone else's
responsibility left undone(or poorly done)...hence, the wave
begins...therefore I feel as though I am best not expressing what I see
or feel is necessary for improvement. It has alienated me in the
past...these are work politics though...so they may not apply?

I would hope that your forum is conducive to the changes that you see
fit...and that your expressions truly do agree inside as well as
represent your base...

I trust your judgement...you will do as you see fit...and be

May Your Paths Bring Enlightenent,

Michael Gabriel

Lee, unless you are looking to be a career politition which you don't
seem to be interested in, then (man, I'll sound like Adventure Begins)
Compose your music, get on stage and sing your song. You will know that
your integrity is in order and who knows? You could become a one hit
wonder!flowerforyou drinker Rock on! Everyone hold up their lit
lighters.... now.
