Lost the keys to my car last night, insted of being able to go down to the local hard ware store and have anouther one cut by the pimple faced kid behind the counter. You now have to drive to your local dealer, "if he's still open." And have a new key programed to your car. $80.00 for the key $60.00 for the service. And that dosen't include the keyless entry pad that you lost along with the key. What is this world coming to. Next they will be trying to sell you insurance for your car keys.

I can say with all honesty that I've never lost my keys, however I have misplaced them more than once. I've now gotten myself into the habit of hangin them on the lil hook I have at the door. I made myself one of those 'key holder' plaques. I automatically hang my keys on it when I come in the door.

I've never owned a car that required me to go to the dealer's to get a extra set of keys thankfully. I've always gone to the hardware store an gotten the old guy behind the counter to make me a spare set just in case though. shades

that is what I do now; I got myself a little key holder that I have hung right on the side of the door, and as I come in the house, I hang them immediately....bigsmile See I think outside the box toobigsmile

Here's one for you, Do you have folks that come over on a regular basis that also hang their keys up when they come over? I've got an aunt an a friend who come over for coffee an that's the first thing they do when they come in the carport door.

I do the same at home, but I miss placed them a work. I'm still finding keys for all my old cars, that I don't own anymore. I used to even keep a spare hidden under the car too, Now most cars have chips in the keys to prevent theft. Its getting out of hand. One of my coworkers did the cash for clunkers thing, got a spare key made for his new honda fit, Cost him $150.00.

I'm sure the professional car thieves have already figured a way around the chip in the key thing.shades

Every time I've had to make a clame to my insurance they have trated me like crap. Last time they threatend to drop me, I haden't had a pay out in six years. And it wasn't even my falt. When I got the car back I found out they repaired it with used parts. the paint flacked off three weeks later. I could have fixed my self and got the same results. If it wasn't a law to have it I wouldn't. I could use the extra $700.00 dollars a year.

There are alarms that sound when a toddler wanders out of range... there must be something like that for keys. If not, chain 'em to your cell phone so you can call and find out where they are.

A policeman walking his beat one evening encounters a man looking for his keys on the ground under a street light. He asks the man where exactly he lost the keys, to which the man points to a yard across the street and says, "Over there". "But then why are you looking for them over here?", asks the cop. "Because there's no light over there".

Insurance is great, isn't it? Especially non-insured motorist coverage for your mandatory auto insurance. Kind of like hiring a bail bondsman when your neighbor gets arrested.
