"I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

You served? You remember this?

While some of the ideas are good, I will never pledge to serve our president! He is a public servant. Not the other way around.

This is my only pledge!!

I PLEDGE ALLEGIANGE TO THE FLAG OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,AND TO THE REPUBLIC FOR WHICH IT STANDS ONE NATION UNDER GOD,INDIVISIBLE WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL.

I agree with this statement, I may be a registered Republican that doesn't mean I no whitewash them or will I unreasonably bash a DeM. Time for pettiness is over with.

I will never sign anything stating I support Obama I didn't and I won't I respect the office of President. Not the person.

His so called ideas are not NEW like he talks about they are pretty much the norm in alot of other countries where it hasn't worked. So why should it work here.

Yes, well I will give him time as well, even if I am not particularly fond of everyone in his administration. If I lived through the Bush administration I am sure I will live through this one as well. We can't all have the president and admin we want. Guess I get to have one out of 3 for a change. I suspect there will be others I don't like. That's just life. flowerforyou

The only pledge this president wanted over and above any other was a citizen level involvement in our government.

He was hoping people would get out and volunteer for the cause. It is not a requirement nor is it anything threatening.

Some offered their pledge to do things to help and volunteer. Some said they pledge to serve Obama. I said I would never serve him. He is the public servant not the other way around!

I have no master but myself and stop trying to pass that kind of crap off as even slightly close to the truth of what is happening because it is not.

That definitely does not make the lunatic fringe the majority still.

People are dissatisfied for quite a few different reasons and most of them are not even accurate. They actually come from the racists in this country who are trying to defame the president on false premises.

Like my dad used to say "wish in one hand and siht in the other see which one fills up first" sad but true.

your dad said that too!?!? i used to hate it when my dad would tell me that!! but the lesson sunk in.. outside of christmas and my birthday, I never wish for anything!

wishing is useless.

action is what counts.

Hmmm.... I think some folks here either don't know or choose to forget that during the 2004 presidential campaign, the Bush campaign was requiring this (From Wikipedia):

Though not legally binding, the Republican National Committee (RNC) used both signed Loyalty Oaths and spoken Loyalty Pledges as a requirement to attend certain 2004 re-election campaign speeches, a possible first in U.S. election history.

During the 2004 presidential campaign, the campaign of George W. Bush routinely required all attendants at its rallies to take what some have called a "loyalty oath". Those who refused to take the oath were not allowed to attend the rally. The "loyalty oath" was actually a pledge of endorsement. These endorsements were used during some of the campaign rallies in 2004. The Bush campaign asserted that the oath was valid because the president was conducting a partisan campaign event. Opponents countered that the oath was intrusive to individual conscience, somewhat fascist in nature and denied general public access to the president.

On at least one occasion, the RNC rally was held on public property. In contrast, the Kerry campaign required no such oaths, and had, in fact, allowed anti-Kerry demonstrators unrestricted admittance.
