Not sure what to make of this but I were truly in disbelief as what a
young mother did to herself and her four girls. It took place in Hudson
Oaks, Texas were an 23 years old mother and her 4 girls ages 5,3,2 and 8
months old find hanged in her moble home closet by her sister. Her 8
months little girl were still breathing and she were rush to the Medical
Center in Fort Worth Texas;in good condition. Question Could depressure
take us so for that we would take our own lives and our love ones too:(
I personal count on my Lord Jesus to help out of any situation I can't
see my way out of. I'm personal not the suicide type for I love my
life:) What do you think? If you wanted to take your life would you also
want to take your kids too?

I think it is ABSOLUTLEY insane and tragic the thought of others taking
lives with them because they can't take the pressure.

The thought of taking one's own life is enough.

Great post

suicidal people are anything but rational. If she was hurting this bad
she probally didnt want her kids to be as hurting as her.I always ask in
these cases where the hell was the support for this obviously troubled
girl..no one saw the signs?? Another tragedy that could have been
averted.

depression is an insidious illness...and it is very possible to take the
lives of one's children, when considering taking one's own.

Without knowing the woman's history of mental health...it is not
possible to determine anything.

Where was the support for this young girl? Family? Authorities?

A baby herself at 23, and with four children.

This is a very sad situation...and condemning the mother only reduces
the condemner.

Having lived in the projects I would say most definately. But even in
the projects that I lived in there was a church. But some projects are
even more horrible than the one I lived in. I have hitch hiked late at
night through them walking as fast as I could. They can make the hair on
your back stand right up. People live in these conditions and it is like
stepping into a whole other dimension. When I lived on the rock as they
called it in Covington, Kentucky the police were even afraid to come in
because the inhabitants had more weapons. The only way my wife and me
were able to survive was to make friends with the inhabitants and become
one of them. My wife had more guts then me but then she had grew up
there and they knew her since she was a small girl. What really
impressed me were the kids who were determined to make a better life for
themselves and to move out of the projects. They had experience in
living in hell at the projects and had strong motivations to make
something of themselves. It was so cool to talk to them on the buses and
hear their outlook.

It was said that she was depressed. It is a shame that this kind of
thing happens. God bless them all.

Perhaps we should with hold our judgement till all the investigations
are done.

There may be more here than meets the first look.

Or not.

Man i wouldn't wish that opon anyone. That is awful to hear. I wish
things like that wouldn't happen in this world, but it does. The only
thing i can really say is the little on who survived was lucky. I will
pray for her and everyone. Just think though if it happened there it
could happen anywhere.

Jess is right on the money, when she says depression is an illness.
often it is the kind of illness, we can not predict and more often,
because we can not understand it, or loose patience with those who are
suffering throught it, we walk away. Turning your back of a person
like this for even an hour, can have the worst of possible outcomes.

If there is anything of importance in this thread let it be this.
If you suspect someone of deep depression. If there has been any hint
of self abuse or improper abuse of others, take the stand of a suicide
watch. Gather as many poeple as possible, who care about this person,
and take turns standing gard, until they seek help, days if necessary.

I have lost family members and friends and almost lost my mother,
because the signs were not met with appropriate action.

Please, everyone, learn.

would i take the life of my child. NO. Sadly most depressed suicidal or
successful suicides are thanks to the person not having proper medical
or psychiatric care. Its all about HEALTH INSURANCE and doctors REFUSING
to help patients who have NONE. I read this article when it first
appeared on APP yesterday. how sad and tragic. God bless that family.

Maybe it's just here un Minnesota, but they will not turn a patient in
crisis away for lack of insurance. You can lead a horse to water. Still,
it is very very sad and an act of selfishness to take not only your own
life away from others but innocent children's lives as well.

Act of selfishness Zap?

Ever been so far down in the hole, that there is not even a pinprick of
light to look up to?

From the outside, standing on the edge, it is an inconceivable act...to
take the lives of your child or children, but in that black hole, really
in it....you are committing the greatest love act...to stop any
suffering you think your kids are going to experience.

Don't stand in judgement until you have lived it...

Depression is not rational thought...it is the most blackest
illness...real depression...not the soft soap, Oprah garden variety...

Jess, you consider murder suicide to be "the greatest love act"? Wow.
What about the child's rights? She murdered her children. That to me is
beyond any excuse or explanation. What if the father committed murder
suicide? Would your answer be the same? Is that what we should tell the
father? Yeah, she hanged her kids but it's a beautiful thing? Taking the
time to rig nooses, gather her kids, and kill them one by one, took some
time and thought. Not an act of desperation but an act of murder. Google
"murder suicide" and you'll find countless sickening stories. I feel sad
for the family members and friends that had so much taken away because
of the selfishness of one person. Yes, I do believe it was a selfish
act.

Maybe we as the public need to slow down and take notice to the problems

This is the only sensitive thing I have ever herd you say.

The system in paper, is ideal. But it has proven time and again that it
dos not work.

Poor child, what must have been for her to take her life and her
children's... and she had to take them first and then end her own... if
she had any regrets at the moment she couldn't even have gone back,
because to live with the guilt of having taken the lives of your
childrenis just too heavy a burden.
