wtf??? Seriously what? One I wouldn't answer that if I did live alone (and I hope no one out there would) and second this was only the third line of a conversation, what kind of idiot asks that???? While I assume most single people live alone I do often ask because I do not want to have to negotiate the presence of room mates, parents, adult children, ect. It is not like he is asking where you live which would be a question I would not answer.

I used to get that question a lot when I went in yahoo chat rooms. I agree, it's a creepy thing to ask. It's better to just ask "do you have kids?" or "are you married?" Otherwise you come off as a pervert and an idiot. I used to turn it around on them and ask, "why, are you trying to move in or something???" Always pissed them off, and no, I don't visit chat rooms anymore because of lame comments like that.
