Sources: Obama Will Send 40-45K More to Afghanistan
White House denies a decision has made, but UK's move would make more sense

(Newser) – President Obama will announce a troop surge in Afghanistan next week, sources tell the BBC, with Afghanistan’s ambassador to the US saying Obama will commit as many as 45,000. The White House says there’s been no decision, with spokesman Robert Gibbs sniffing that the BBC wouldn’t be the first to get such news anyway.

Britain announced today it was sending 500 more troops, a move it wouldn’t likely have made without assurances that more US help was in the works. “All indications are that President Obama is honoring the request by Gen. McChrystal,” Ambassador Said Jawad said today; asked if that meant 40-45,000 troops, he replied, “This is part of the request, yes.”

I watched the news on the BBC and I was surprised . The US and their allies should leave Afghanistan . Wars cost money and lives . The wars in both Iraq and Afghanistan are not justified and should stop very soon . Noble Peace Prize to add all these troops to Afghanistan ?. This is the joke of a life time....rofl rofl !!!.

Damn it tohyup, pulling all troopers out of Afghanistan will open a backdoor to the enemy! One of our fire bases has been over run recently and killed 8 of our boys who are with the 4th Brigade, 4th Infantry Division stationed here at Ft. Carson, CO. I would have suspicions those who are beginning to use the same tactics that General Giao Vo used during the Vietnam War. Next thing you know that they'll be digging under our fire bases and outposts. There's a high possibility that we may have pulled out of the over run base, and zero in on them with our gun bunnies as one of the enemy is over watching to see what we'll do. Next thing you would know they'll send a small team to try to kill off our gun bunnies while the main force over runs the base. I believe that the War Room needs General Powell to take full command, if he decides to. This is serious business...strategically.

I still haven't got a decent answer as to what we are "winning" from either of these "wars".

Win what?

You can't fight terrorism in one or two countries since it is world wide unless you are being prejudice and only fighting arabic terrorist warriors.

So what?

The Russians pulled out of their Afghan invasion and what you claim didn't happen to them. (same story with everyone else who's tried to occupy that area) Afghanistan is known as "The Graveyard of Empires" for a reason. It seems all the empirical evidence is against you. Either congress declares war, or pull the hell out. Enough BS imperialist games.
