Geez woman.
Wutcha lookin at porn???

When you quarantine something, like a virus, it's to segregate it from infecting and spreading to other programs, files, etc.

So, no, technically, it's not supposed to remain quarantined..

HOWEVER.

I do not know what program, file, etc, was actually quarantined. If the virus was on something important, than no, it shouldn't have been deleted. If on the other hand, it was on something less important, let's just say for the sake of discussion, a picture you had saved, then no.. it's no big deal.

Seeing as how this already took place, you are still online, and posting in the forums, it wasn't a major deal whatever you deleted.

The warning, however, would have been helpful to know what it had said. Sometimes, quarantining a virus then deleted the file it's attached to doesn't always work.

I'd do another scan to make sure it's completely gone.

What AV programs do you use?

Yep, viruses like to hide there...good reminder (delete temporary internet files). Also viruses can hide in your system's trash bin, where everything goes..What anti-virus are you using?

It's good to hear that the virus issue is resolved, however you should consider changing your antivirus since Norton is crap.

Also if you have a system restore on that computer, remember this.

If you install something and the system makes a system restore point before you install, then if the virus was already on the system, it could also be in that restore point.

Always after getting rid of a virus, turn off the system restore and reboot, then turn it back on, this will get rid of the restore points and thus get rid of the virus.

If it comes back again after you have put it in quarantine or deleted it through your AntiVirus then you probably have a file somewhere that will reinstall the virus/trojan/malware once you reboot, sometime the .exe programs that installs the virus/trojans/malware is not recognize by the AntiVirus but only the virus/trojan/malware itself.

Those are hard to get rid of (not impossible) if you can find the .exe programs then try to delete it if the system does not let you then try starting in safe mode and delete it if system still does not let you there are programs that will delete any file no matter what the system says, try those.

Hope yours is not one of them.

Ok just because a virus is quarantined it doesn't mean it is not still on your machine. The bloodhound virus, is old.. if your running an old AV, such as Norton 2003 you are probably infected with other viruses, even if your definitions are up to date you are not protected, as your anti-virus is only as good as the scan engine you are running.
Also,
A virus generally infects just temp files,
If you use Internet Explorer,
Click on Tools
Then click on Internet Options
When the box pops up
Click on the advanced tab
Scroll down till you see "security settings"
Check the check box next to "Delete temporary internet files when browser is closed" this will protect you from being infected from crap on the internet.
Also check the box next to "Do not store encrypted files on your computer" Click Apply then OK
Close your browser and re-open it...
It may look like it is frozen the first time you close it, as it will delete all sparse files from your machine.

I would suggest you download and install
www.malwarebytes.org

The program is free and will clean out any infections you have.

You will need to reboot after it cleans out your PC..

Hope this helps...

a great solution to not getting virus's is changing over from a windows computer to a linux OS. but if ur stuck on windows use firefox rather then internet explorer. also if u do get a virus usually u can google the step by step on how to get rid of it. But warning if its got into ur registry (happened to my dads computer and im in school for IT and networking and know a good amount) i recommend just first trying to reboot from last known good connection if its still there then just get a flashdrive put everything u need on it and just reformat your whole computer

Operating System Share Market - October 2009 by Net Application

Operating System Total Market Share

Windows 92.52%

NetBSD 0.00%
SCP 0.00%
HP-UX 0.00%
AIX 0.00%
SCO 0.00%
OpenVMS 0.00%

The day any other OS as the share market of Windows it will be attacked as much and many security holes will be found.

People make me laugh when they say this is better no virus problem with this OS, well wake up people the only reason they have no problem is that no virus (almost none) are ever created to attack those system.

All systems have holes and the only reasons those OS holes haven't been attacked is that no virus/malware/spyware creators looks at them.

If I want to affect as many PC's as possible with my virus I won't attack Linux or Mac but Windows.

I'm not saying Windows is more user friendly then the others OS just it has a big red cross on it's back compare to the others when it comes to creating trouble for everyday PC users.

I smell conspiracies in many things.

Although there are plenty of viruses designed as "keyloggers" and data miners, and done by professional thieves, but I also believe, that themselves the anti-virus software companies also design viruses, because if there would be no viruses, they would be out of business.
