Yes it will.

I have found when I quit it was tough around the 3rd day, then again at two weeks. But keep it up!!!!

After a couple months, the smell of it will be disgusting, but you'll get over it.

I went 3 years (but unfortunately started again). I am trying to prep myself to quit again and I always do it cold turkey.

You can do it! It goes get easier each day!

from what I've read the actual physical withdrawal only lasts a few days

sweats, shakes, emotional outbursts and such

and then it's the habit more than the addiction and that takes months

anyone can quit some smoking. I've done it a dozen times

Yep 3 days to get it out of your system with 3 days of withdrawls. After that it's all psychological.

once when Mark Twain was young he went to see an aunt who was dying in the hospital

and he "Auntie, if you would just quit smoking you would get better"

and she said "Sam (she called Mark Twain Sam) I don't smoke"

so he said "well, quit drinking"

and she said "I don't drink either"

so he said "well, quit staying up all night playing cards"

"I don't do that either"

and Mark Twain said "There you go. You're in a sinking balloon with nothing to throw out"

Find other ways to redirect the stress...

chew gum

do deep breathing

keep yourself busy

Just know that you can do it! Are you going to let some little thing stop you?

(I know how it feels, but recognize that nicotine is one of the most addictive drugs. But it can be done!)

Find something else to break the physical habit....my dad used lolipops..or a pen...or even exercise...he'd drop down and do 5-10 pushups said it gave him the same stress relief....

and drink lots of water

it helps to flush the toxins from your system and eases the withdrawal

Congratulations and good luck. I quit April 29, 1972...still one of the smartest things I ever did! Get through this time and your chances are good...only you determine whether its "good bye" or "see you next time." flowerforyou

me personally I think I give up on quitting

so I'm gonna try a e cigarette

at least then I wont be inhaling noxious smoke from a burning weed and just get my nicotine fix a little cleaner

they say nicotine itself is no more harmful than caffiene. that its the other stuff in the smoke that'll kill you

I quit just about a year ago......I want one every day...when the urge hits..just try to find something to do to get your mind off a cigarette. The urges get less..but I don't think they really ever go away...

Much luck to you.........waving

It will go away in time...

I used to smoke until I got Asthma, but still notice I hold a pen or something like a cigarette

bad habits die hard, but they WILL die

Try cinnamon flavored stuff too! That helps some people.

You will find many, many triggers along the way...you know all the things did with the cigarette, the places you went? All of these will be triggers that will instantly take you back to the good ol' friend cigarette.

You will have to try and modify your behaviour and create new experiences without that cigarette.

I quit about 6-7 years ago, i don't care to remember exactly, but I craved for a loooooong time. I loved smoking...but one day...like a year ago....it just stopped. Every time i really wanted to light one up I would remind myself why I quit in the first place.

I am a visual person so I actually surfed the net for pictures of people sick with cancer etc...THAT has worked for me....which means that you HAVE to find what works for you. Just keep remembering yourself the reason why you quit.

I didn't want to be controlled by something, so I took my life back...
Ultimately YOU decide what goes into your body...

I hope this helps, and if you need to chat, just hit me up on here...anytime!
