Vision, Mission, Motto

For more than 50 years, AARP has been serving its members and creating positive social change.

AARP’s mission is to enhance the quality of life for all as we age, leading positive social change and delivering value to members through information, advocacy and service.

We all know lobbyists aren't in it for the money. They just genuinely care for the people they represent..

Nice try..

I was a member of AARP for a while. I didn't see anything more than an ID card and worthless mags for my money.

Their supposed discounts didn't add up to much. I really don't ever see myself needing a discount on a cruise.

I'm glad I dropped them now. I see how they really don't represent the best interests of seniors.

Would someone in it for profit be willing to not only pay for lobbyist, but also willingly sacrifice members?

Your logic is faulty!

Nope,
Just like their Vision, Mission, and Motto statement says;

For more than 50 years, AARP has been serving its members and creating positive social change.

AARP’s mission is to enhance the quality of life for all as we age, leading positive social change and delivering value to members through information, advocacy and service.

25% of medicare recipients have "medicare advantage". Eliminating that as the bill does forces Seniors to purchase so called "Medigap" coverage from private insurers to fill holes in medicare coverage.

UnitedHealth Group offers Medigap coverage branded with the AARP logo, on which AARP collects royalties.

so it really is about profits.....

Yep!

inconvineint for them that people are becoming aware.

I am hearing a LOT of members that either are withdrawing RIGHT NOW or intend not to continue membership.

Most state that they were listened to about as much as congresspersons listened at the town halls... (i.e. Both our corporations and our congress needs hearing aids).

i like how Fox tried to say that AARP didn't endorse the Dems HC bill, now they're finally throwing their weight around. Regardless, i also like how noone ever talks about Reagan's love interest with Merryl Lynch.

The majority of AARP's revenues comes from the sale of insurance... chew on that for a while!

(Not saying them are bad or not a good representative of older americans, but you have to look at their bank roll!)
