I remember when I was young ( a long time ago ) - a child had to work to earn a few cents to get what they wanted at the store..Now, it is uncommon to see kids actually put themselves out for someone or something...I see disrespect to their elders and irresponsibility. In the parents I see working mothers and fathers with no time to spend to sit down to dinner as a family or attend the many activites their child is in (if they are lucky and want to actually participate in curricular activities). Money was short when I was a child but now it is shorter and children are lazier.. yes, children are more disrespectful than ever and men and women dont show nearly the same level of self respect or respect of each other as was present in my parents generation. |

I wish life could/would be what it was in the 1800's and early 1900's...It was WAY different and more real! Those were the good ole days (80's)...I agree...

I'd say some kids in some places where I live the kids still wear cowboys hats and take em off indoors and tip their hats to the ladies and say sir and ma'am there are a couple of gangsta wannabes with their pants down to their knees but they are mostly ridiculed by the majority of kids. and when they get rude or obnoxious the redneck kids beat their azzes. so even they are pretty polite haha |

it does kinda amuse me how the kids graduate high school and expect to move out and continue living the same life style that it took their parents thirty years to achieve This is one of my pet peeves and a battle I constantly wage (losing most of the time) with my own kids. MATERIALISM. We are a society absolutely sick with this disease. It's like a cancer and we are completely infected. It's one of the reasons I only have a TV for videos. I don't subscribe to cable and get any signal out where I live. All anyone ever thinks about is gettng MORE STUFF.  I could go and on about this. I'll let it go. |

I wish you could cable with only the channels you wanted. But, they don't let you do that.

I hear people say all the time about how bad things are now and how worse people are in terms of their behavior. Young people are disrespectful, people are lazy, violence is up, etc. Do you think this is really true? And, I don't mean just looking back 50 years. I mean looking at human history as a whole. Are we really that different? Lets just LOOK at our own TV's and its CHANGE through our living times...WE,,,,use to BE,,,,,ALL that the TV showed us to be... My Three Sons, Andy Griffith Show, Leave It To Beaver... To THINK,,,,,we were really LIKE THOSE DAYS HERE,,,,in our own living daily tasks and work,,,,NOW We live a much more intense drama each day,,,,JUST to wake and drive to our jobs... Let alone the expectations,and demands upon all of us to BE, and to DO.... On a very REAL note here,,,,what IS happening to our culture is the LACK to FOLLOW the OLD MORALS and WAYS,,of the pasts... ITS almost as if THATS,,,,the NOW thing to do,,,, Put-down the concepts of WHAT NORMAL is to one or to ALL... as IT in it self is some-kind of ferry-tailed view points... GOD,,,is being taken out of EVERYTHING this Countries fore-fathers believed in to have HIM put there.. FREE-DOM'S wanting to be GIVEN,,,sooner to our youths... This is my realist opinions and views to US ALL... IF,,,we dispose of ALL,,,that WE use to consider rights and wrongs,, THEN,,,my dear fellow folks,,,, WHAT SHALL BE A BASIS for OUR CHILDREN TO BE RAISED and TAUGHT into? If WE let OUR VALUES DEGRADE,,,,as to what is a MAIN FOCUS of RIGHT AND GOOD,,,,,then WE OUR LEFT WITH,,,,WHAT???????? DO WE NEED TO VOTE ON WHATS RIGHT,,,or GOOD,,,to KNOW-IT OUR-SELVES???? Because that is where we our going as a people here on this planet,,,and it,,,or ,,,WE,,,have chosen to give up beliefs for monetary values over human values...even the air we have to breath. Our products we consume, the ciggerettes our government profits off of knowing THEY carry a risk,gurenteed to harm you or others around you,,,and YES,,,I SMOKE,,,as the habits something I BLAME on ALL the generations before I was born into this world,,,for allowing THEM to be sold and used,,,,,,,as THEY will,,,be PART of my death, if not ALL OF IT... WHY?,,,,,,Because MONEY,,,,,is paid to politicians to KEEP THEM HERE. NO-MATTER,,,their cost in human lives being altered.. GEE,,,and smoking is just one small area to focus on,,,,wink, |

I wish you could cable with only the channels you wanted. But, they don't let you do that. The cable companies are still fighting against the death of their industry. Give it a few years and you'll be watching cable channels through the internet and paying a la carte for the channels you want. |

That was also at a time when parents could actually discipline their kid and not worry about the government stepping in and telling them they're a bad parent.
This does include spanking, which I do not necessarily approve of but it worked wonders when nothing else did. I also grew up with respect for people and I didn't believe in God. I did have respect for my mom though and disappointing her would have been worse for me than anything religion could threaten me with. |

LOL The human ills have always been there, there are more people now so it appears to be more ills, when it is probably the same by percentage. |
