I don't mind hunting for them..lol..It keeps my mind off all the crap in my life..lol..I found some already..lol.

Henna is a good option too, those stay on for a few weeks or more!

actually, not even mindset. just the type of tattoo. the first one was a graphic and therefore was mainly coloring. the second was lettering and that is done like an outline which from my understanding hurts more. they do say that places with less flesh between the skin and the bone tend to hurt more. this just wasn't relevant to either of my tats.

go to a harley daidson store and u can get some there.or a lot of yer store's have them n machine's.but getting a real one isnt that bad.i thought it would hurt like hell and put it off for yr's and now i am addicted to them.IMAO

So, a large colored tatt without a border might be
the least painful? In a fleshy place.

Okay this might sound stupid, but I would really like
to know..the needle, does it pierce the skin even for
just the colored tatt (no border) or does it kind of
just imbed the color without breaking the skin?

When I got my tattoo They told me the outline would hurt the most.They lied like dogs.That was the easy part.The coloring was the worst.
And Yes,the needles go in on the coloring.

IMO the coloring is more of a burning sensation whereas the outline/lettering is more of a cutting sensation.

the needles pierce the skin either way but it's not like when someone has blood drawn or anything like that. i didn't bleed much with either of mine and i have a bleeding disorder.

I have two and the coloring in was definently the least painful part. Can't wait to get number 3.

Will probably get the 4th done here in Soho while Im in London and a few in Amsterdam within the week. If I find a good artist when Im in Dublin, I may get a lil one there too. Way too many places around here to chose from. It's a matter of finding the right artist for what I want done.

So, do you always need to go into a tatt shop
knowing what you want?
Do they sometimes try and talk you into something?

IMO a good artist would never talk you into something. they might make suggestions to an idea you have, but it should be your vision. if you don't know what you want, a visit to a shop might be a good idea just to check out the flash (artwork) on display and maybe it would help you decide. and would you just go and do it already chica!!

I've seen an artist talk someone OUT of a tattoo but he also provided a much better alternative so it worked out.

Just make sure whatever you get is original and not something you see a picture of on the wall at the tattoo shop. I did that for my first tattoo and am now contemplating how to cover it up.

I've always had the opposite experience, once you were past the outline it was easy sailing.

Well I would Elvira, 'cept my pain tolerance is still
as low as my nerve. However, after absorbing all
of the above I think I am ready to go talk to the
tattoo place across the street.
And, where I was thinking of getting one, turns out
to be, er, politically incorrect, ergo "tramp stamp."
That is why I wondered if they help you select or
if I need to know, going in.
Oh and someone else told me that you had to be addicted
to pain to get one. I haven't even pierced my ears :-)

Removal or cover-up. And originality.
I have a friend who had to have all his tatts covered
when he, uh, er, switched alliances. I plan NEVER to
do that, so other than those three things, any others?

Well you're not an 18 year old kid thats going to go in there and get something stupid, so I wouldnt worry about cover up to much. Just get something meaningful and make sure a good artist does it.

Yeah,that's what everybody said.Mine took almost 5hrs.The artist said in all her tats,Noone had ever took it like I did.I did not even blink about it till almost the end.Then she put the numbs it on for free!
