The loss from his pocket book is telling.
Seemed VERY insincere.

Play you PAY.

Yeah, I think he's just trying to save his career and marriage. Only time will tell.

i just find it amusing that one has to call a press conference to admit to being unfaithful.

i mean who cares, really, how many women he's screwed (except maybe his wife and other various partners)?

I think it was written for him and he didn't take the time to learn it well.

I think he was in danger of losing some sponsors and this speech was an effort to stop the bleeding.

I think the "spin" was that he needed medical treatment and/or counseling which probably was covered in his contracts where cheating was not.

I think he was mostly sorry that he got caught.

It was shallow, scripted, and hollow. He's a disgrace in the public opinion. And he should live with that shame for a long time, until the people accept him again as the Tiger Woods we used to know. This happened, when? Last late November? Michael Vick is way ahead of him in public opinion. Yes, I know they're not the same. But they are both professional athletes that were once thought very highly of. Michael Vick seems to have turned his life around, Tiger is only just beginning to, as Tiger said, he has a long long way to go.

I think it took a lot of courage to get up there and make that speech.

Courage? He has everything to lose if he didn't get up there and make that speech. Giving the speech was the easy part. Actually fixing his life and reputation will take time and commitment.

Considering his "speech" was weak and pathetic, you bet it was easy. I think he needs a follow-up conference, because this one was terrible. Maybe an interview on NBC Nightline or Larry King.

I think sometimes people confuse doing something embarrassing with having courage. It's not the same. I'm no PR person so I don't know what it will take to fix this as far as news conferences go, but I do know there's a lot of money at stake here for him.

Oh, please.

Money at stake??

Does everyone not realize that he wouldn't EVER have to step out on a golf course again and he already has more money than he'll ever be able to spend?

Even if he NEVER gets another endorsement, have you seen the purses in most of the tournaments??

Just finishing in the Top 5 pays out VERY well.

He may not get the EXTRA money from the endorsements, but he certainly wouldn't be cash strapped.

I never said he didn't have a lot of money. I'm talking about future earning potential and the money he will lose to his wife if she leaves him. We've all seen many celebrities who don't need the money work very hard to keep their earning potential.

Sincere, insincere!!! Who cares??? The whole thing is insignificant, totally meaningless!

One man screwing around!!! Where the heck is the news?!?!?!

It might matter to Tiger Woods and his family, but the fact that it draws so much attention from the general public for soooooo long is simply PATHETIC.

His declaration today has eclipsed ALL OTHER NEWS FROM ALL MEDIA!!!

That makes us all pathetic.

What does Tiger have a lot of right now? Money. Millions and millions of dollars. He's set for life, and so are his next 10 generations after him. He could go live anywhere in the world he wanted to, and get away from all of this, but he won't. He loves golf and the PGA, and all of his fans and supporters too much. So what does he need then to get back in the game? Image. His image is so very tarnished right now, and he has a tough road ahead in getting back to the Tiger Woods of old. He will need to consistently address the public forum if he hopes to achieve this. This could be done by picking up the clubs and playing some tournaments, keeping his nose clean and not being involved in any more "transgressions," and not fighting with or running from the media. If he does this, he might get his image back. He knows what he needs to do. Question is will he and for how long?

as a public figure and top world golfer he was going
to be criticized whether he apologized or not.

he seemed aware and sincere. i think he understands
the damage he's done for the most part but also he
realizes that his behavior has caused enormous harm.
he wanted to address the spousal abuse allegations.

naturally, he wants to salvage his family - his wif
and kids. For all their sakes, I hope he ccan.
