How hard is it to fix our economy?

I mean is it that difficult to realize that we are spending more money then we have?

Or that we are spending it in the wrong areas?

Is it that difficult for all the finance majors in D.C. to realize that we don't need to print more money but just need to redirect it?

Sorry NASA needs to be privately funded, why are we spending so much money on a space program right now? why not scale back that budget and redirect it. To let's say Job creation. Or what about the postal office, they just laid off 30,000 employees last year and our stopping mail delivery for Saturdays to save money. The government has shown that it can't even sustain Medicare but we are letting them control more and more...why because they are good business people? They have proven that they are not.

What would you do differently if you were the one in charge?

I would never want to be the one in charge, to much expectation for too little appreciation,,but

so far, of what I know, I dont think I would be doing it differently

I would want to see taxes at a FLAT rate though, regardless of income. Percentage seems fair. I would also want to work with the experts to keep a tighter correlation between the rate of increase in the cost of living and in the living wages....

"What would you do if you were president?"

Always loved that question, but people didn't always like my answers. So I think I'll sit this one out and enjoy some popcorn.

The US Postal Service is NOT a government agency. So whatever they decide to do has nothing to do with the government, and their funding.

Interesting little dilemna there about the USPS. They are considered a quasi-governmental agency of the executive branch. They claim to be an independent enterprise, yet there are are several indicators that would claim the contrary. It is, and it isn't. USPS is also considered a "monopoly" by many.

The Postal Act of 2006 required the PRC to submit a report to the President and Congress on universal postal service and the postal monopoly in December 2008. The report must include any recommended changes. The Postal Service report supports the requirement that the PRC is to consult with and solicit written comments from the Postal Service. In addition, the Government Accountability Office is required to evaluate broader business model issues by 2011.

keep in mind also that the PRIMARY reason the uspo is downsizing, yes I said it, they are DOWNSIZING, is due to the increase of electronic mail, texting and such. it is a proven fact that the use of standard postal mail (snail mail), has decreased significantly in the past several years, and due to such decrease, and less demand for it, the Post Office is regrettably downsizing.

It would not surprise me to eventually find ourselves back to postal mail being delivered only one day a week like it used to be when it was carried by the Pony Express. Even your utility companies are offering electronic billing and payment options, and going to a paperless method. The ONLY reason it has not completely gone over is the fact that not everyone can afford to have internet in their homes.
