I say we buy it all and use it for medicinal purposes. Then offer the farmers more for an alternate crop. Now what pays better than opium?

Why not just pay them NOT to grow it? Perhaps make deals to where whatever they grow instead of opium, when pay them whatever they would have made, or even more as a incentive to grow something else?

yeah it would be great to get the land used for something else - anything else. I wonder what they get per acre for their poppy crop...
