Closet of stupidity?????

Spidercmb, as far as this thread goes, you're right here in the same
closet with the rest of us.

Yes Alex, you are right, it was a sarcastic remark. Anyone who knows me
knows I would go to any end to help someone. If we are not wanted there
then what should we do? Why not send in the UN and let them be hated for
awhile? Let's get our money's worth out of them for a change.

I would like to know what everyone here thinks that soldiers do?

I'm confused by the comments of many of you.

War is supposed to be declared because a threat to our way of life, to
our homeland, to our people has been perceived or has become inevitable.

It's my understanding that when we enter into a war, we are attempting
to make those who threaten us, docile. How do we do this?
We go there to kill, to take over, to change, and to continue support
until we feel somewhat sure that whatever government rules, has control.
AND, that the new government poses no threat to us.

This does not mean we won't take sides in someone else's battle, if the
wrong being committed is outrageously against humanity. As in the case
of genocide.

But we did not go there to protect humanity, we went because a state of
war was declared. We sent soldiers to fight.

I don't agree with it, and I don't support the government who put us
there, but we did not go there for the specific purpose of acting as an
allie to support one side or another.

While war does not include denying humans basic necessities, when we can
provide them, or withholding kindness, when the situation requires it,
war also does not always include respect for those innocents when a
target for destruction is close by.

We did not send an envoy of gentle peace makers. We sent soldiers.

If this war is wrong, than it was wrong from the start. If we don't
belong there, then what we have seen there, should not change the fact
that we don't belong there.

So why did we go?
Who thinks it was wrong?

Who now thinks we should stay, just because we have seen a view from
inside the parameters of a country that has been living in terror for
many decades?

It's easy to say, when we see a wrong, we should attempt to right it.
It's more difficult to send our loved ones to die in a struggle that we
fear we can not possibly win.

So tell me and end my confusion:

Do we stay, fight, kill and be killed, take over and change?

Do we leave and allow the internal struggles to continue, while we watch
and wait for an attack or assault on ourselves?

Do we take sides and fight for one side or another?

Do we walk away, with experience and new knowledge of the suffering that
will occur and spend our money and efforts on offering relief to those
who are caught in the internal cross fire?

What do you all suggest? Opinions only, they do not need to be
derogatory or offensive. They are just opinions and will probably not
sway those who have their own.

The old joke goes:

An Iraqi cleric and an American engineer found a magic lamp.

The genie gives each man 1 wish

The cleric goes first, "I wish for a wall around all Islam to keep out
the infidel. It must be 100 miles tall and 20 miles thick with no gates
or windows"

The genie says, "Done, now what is your wish?"

The engineer asks, "Is the wall impermiable?"

"Yes"

"Is it waterproof?"

"Yes, as the cleric asked, no openings of any kind to keep the infidel
out."

"Fill it with water"

Hey Red...as always... good questions to ask...I wish I knew the answer,
to any or all of them..
We can give opinions on what we would like to see happen...or what we
feel we should do...but then again..we would not know if it was truly
correct until the final resolution...if that was to ever be...which I
highly doubt...
I know what I feel of this war...and am not one to get in pissin matches
with others...as it simply has no positive result...
But I certainly appreciate the questions you pose...now here's hoping
they can be approached without derogatory remarks...
Have a great day!flowerforyou

Soldiers do one thing: make war
War does two things: kills people and breaks things

To turn soldiers (see above defs) into 'peacekeepers' is like teaching a
horse to use a salad fork for salad only.

Let our fine soldiers do their job in eradicating radical Islam and the
terrorists that want to kill us just because we enjoy the freedoms that
soldiers of the past died to give us.

Or bring them HOME

America: Great country, Scary government

Thanks WF. I mostly just want clarification from some who seem to say
one think in one post and then another for a different post. I hop in
and out and sometimes, I know, I misread or even read into things. It
just seemed important to me, to know where those who post here, stand on
this war, and not on injustice or cruelty or the internal struggles of a
country. Just this war.

Understanding these things as we discuss, allows us to get a whole
picture of a person, and that's what these discussions are supposed to
lead to, isn't it?

So many beautiful, thoughtful, intelligent people to know, and only a
dismal barrier of inadequate language is all we have here with which to
learn about them.

We should be concentrating on our own problems.

Islamic radicals will eventually turn on Islam itself and be destroyed
by Islam.

Why should we interfere, eventually those radicals will cause their own
destruction.
