Topic: Threats against a POTUS | |
---|---|
I found this interesting..........
The number of reported threats rose from 2,400 in 1965 to 12,800 in 1969. According to some reports, President George W. Bush received about 3,000 threats a year, while his successor Barack Obama received about four times that many This figure has been disputed by Secret Service Director Mark Sullivan, who says that Obama receives about as many threats as the previous two Presidents. It also said that 75% of all threats recieved are from people who are mentally ill. Also the maximum penalty for threatening a United States judge or a Federal law enforcement officer is 10 years imprisonment — double the maximum penalty for threatening the President. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Threatening_the_President_of_the_United_States Wow. That's over 12,000 threats a year against Obama, thats a lot. |

Even though Secret Service Director Mark Sullivan says Obama receives about as many as the previous two Presidents? Sorry, but I'll believe him over Wikipedia any day.

http://www.splcenter.org/blog/2008/02/20/racist-attacks-on-obama-growing-more-heated/ Considering that racist threats are going to be over and above the normal threats, it is logical to believe there are alot more threats. |

Hopefully the threats escalate and scare the regime into backing down from its positions.

It is understandable too that they do not want to let on to those who threaten the president that they have any power so you have noticed that the information about it has stopped since before he took office.

Hopefully the threats escalate and scare the regime into backing down from its positions. ![]() Dude, you can't be serious? You want the life the the POTUS threatened until he changes his positions? Wrong way to go about it. No matter how much I dislike ANY polititian here in the US I would NEVER want something bad to happen to them. C'mon now. |

Being that 75% of the threats come from people who are mentally ill, that kills her racist deal. I just ignore her, everything is racist this or racist that with her when she has no clue on anything that CNN or MSNBC tells her. |

Wrong way to go about it. No matter how much I dislike ANY polititian here in the US I would NEVER want something bad to happen to them. C'mon now. I'm very serious. If the POTUS is dumb/tyrannical enough to make decisions that adversely affect people's standard of living, he should be prepared to accept the consequences. (as the old saying goes, "you don't ***k with other people's money) This is why the Anti-Federalists (correctly) advocated a highly decentralized government. This allows people to vent their outrage in a civilized way. As long as we have a system in which the POTUS is regarded as a "soverign" or dictator who can do whatever, whenever he wants, chaos among the citizens should be expected. |

In relation to this topic, I certainly agree. In politics, like in life, there is usually pretty serious rebellion against changing the 'status quo'. If a majority are receiving the greatest benefit from it, usually the majority will have a large number opposed to changing it. Can you imagine the threats a woman president would get? or a minority woman? OBama had balls, I am glad he and his family are still ok due to our excellent secret service,,, |

Have you ever been to an event the President is at? They have F.B.I., A.T.F., US Marshals and all other federal agencies plus local and state Law Enforcement all over the place. I was talking to one of the Secret Service Agents when I got the opportunity to meet President Bush. He said they pull agents from all branches of Government Law Enforcement from all the field offices in the area the President will be at. The guy I was talking to was out of the San Jose office and said he mostly worked counterfitting cases. It's a massive corrdinated effort to protect the President. |

I had to go through a metal detecter, then get wanded then sniffed by Uniformed Secret Service dog. I know it also costs a pretty penny. When he came and campaigned for Congressman Dean Deller the campaign had to pay the travel and security costs, which ia law. It came to over $200,000 for about a two hour event, it was quite amazing. |
