So about a week ago a Tampa man was pulled over in a routine traffic stop. He was wanted on violation of probation (drug charges). The officer who pulled him over called for back-up which is routine procedure for felony warrants. Both officers were wearing bullet proof vests. The man they stopped, shot them both in the face, killing them. One had four small children, the other's wife was nine months pregnant. He got away... there was a $100,000 reward for his arrest. A couple of days ago someone turned him in, and has been denied the reward because allegedy they knew his whereabouts.

Now isn't that the whole point of turning someone in? Knowing their wherabouts??? Granted, once you start shooting cops in the face, I would turn you in for nothin, but sometimes I just wonder why, and how do cops get away with false advertising rewards.

Your thoughts please...

If the rewards aren't real, a lot of people will lose any incentive they may have had to divulge useful information. I don't know how many crimes are actually solved through the offering of rewards, but I can just about guarantee the number, whatever it is, will go down if this kind of deception becomes widespread.

So the guy who gave the info to the cops for
a reward, is he consideed an accomplice?

Hmmm what if it were his brother, and he had
been hiding him in his house, then they worked
out the $$ and he turned him in.

See, I can change my own mind on the question.
And the poor families.

What a sad news story-

but the man who turned this alleged piece of **** in may have a case for a lawsuit agaisnt the police dept. if he wanted to pursue it. There are lawyers who would jump all over this.

It is more than likely going to backfire on Tampa P.D. depending on where it goes, if it already hit the news...they probably won't be getting a whole lot of useful information in the near future. Cause and effect.

I don't care for cops, but wish death upon no one. That is a terrible way to go, their families have my condolences.

True, the if/then that Holly cites ... All will be revealed!

Has to be info that leads to the arrest ...

Might have been near a done deal already, awaiting SWAT go, etc., who knows ...

Tragic for poor officers and their families, terrible ... brokenheart

I could be wrong, because i haven't read the entire article. I don't have all the facts and I haven't read any of the responses, BUT maybe

"allegedly they knew his whereabouts."

Means - The Police already knew his whereabouts by the time they turned him in.

Kinda like if I asked you what 194 x 236 was, and told you I would give you a 100 grand if you could tell me. Then by the time you told me I already figured it out to be 4,5784. Then I explained to you I just found out on my own, but you think I'm lying just so I don't have to pay, because I didn't go public to you with my answer first.

Just sayin'

To this I refer you to Lex's post... indifferent

I agree with what Lex said and I understand what you are saying. Then again like in the example I used earlier WHAT IF they actually already knew. (They meaning the police). I personally wouldn't pay for information I already had. Of course if they did have the whereabouts before they was told I believe they should have came forth earlier. Then again maybe they felt it would jeopardize the case. again I don't really know.
