Well, I think I'm gonna read LOTR first. I keep putting it off because it's 3 books and I know it will take a while. But, I'm really wanting to read them. But, I've got my lists for after that. And, I don't have to wait to watch some of these movies.

Okay, I've got more than a long list for movies. Now give me some book suggestions. Did you guys like the Jim Butcher books? Is that considered sci fi? I read the first one and loved it.

So many books....so little time. tears

Scifi-

Dune- James Herbert
Stranger In A Strange Land- Robert Heinlein
Steel Beach- John Varley
Damnation Alley- Roger Zelazny
Little Fuzzy, Fuzzy Sapiens, Fuzzies and Other People- H Beam Piper
Battlefield Earth 3000- L Ron Hubbard

I like everything you like...will you marry me..?? barring that, can I borrow your movies and books???

I was adding some of these to my Netflix list and saw Invasion of the Body Snatchers. I remember that movie....saw it eons ago, must have been in my teens....it was great!

I watched a movie called Invasion (I think?) with my son and I remember thinking it was the body snatcher movie remade. He and I love watching scary movies. The Grudge and The Ring are our favorites...oh and The Others.

You can also read The Hobbit, then you can get a lil more background info on how Bilbo found the Ring.

If you're talking about Invasion with Nicole Kidman, it is another version of Invasion Of The Body Snatchers, there's also Body Snatchers from 1993 which isn't too bad. Then there is the 1978 version with Donald Sutherland and Leonard Nimoy which is excellent.

Cool. Tolkien and the author of the Narnia series(CS Lewis) were great friends- Treebeard is CS Lewis, the way Treebeard speaks in the books is how Tolkien remembered Lewis speaking.

Uh oh, if you consider LOTR long you may want to hold off on the Wheel of Time series- each book is close to 800 pages or longer, the Sword of Truth books are huge too.

Wow, that's a very interesting bit of information! CS Lewis is another great author. I read the Screwtape Letters in my teens as well...great book.
