I don't know much about myself spiritually or metaphysically... I can tell you that I'm EXTREMELY sensitive to energies. Whether this be from a person, an animal, the room I just walked into, aspects of nature, many things. I also seem to be able to instantly understand what a person is feeling or 'thinking' in one way or another. I also attract things (animals, people) without meaning to. I want to figure myself out. I've looked into many, many things, but I can't settle. Shamanism? I don't know how to apply myself? Meditation? My ADD seems to work against me. Am I psychic? No idea. I'm told that sometimes a person who never feels quite at home, even when they are may be 'touched' in some way. Just lost a bit, you know? I want to know about chakras, I want to be able to spiritually attach myself to something, but how? Maybe I shouldn't...besides, it is all so amazingly similar sometimes...love...peace...being in the here and now. Sacred geometry, kabbalah, yantras, mandalas, mantras... What about Reiki? I don't even know what that is really I've been told that I have a sort of 'energy' that I put out when I touch people, and it can sometimes be overwhelming to people. What overwhelms ME is using my singing bowl sometimes. It just gets to be too much. I don't really know what I'm asking for here, this is a pretty broad spectrum here, guys; just throw me some comments. I'm young, and have years to sort myself out.

jeff

why not just pick a path of your own choosing and see where you go from there. Blindly choosing a faith can be bogus when it doesn't work out. All religions have some basic truths for living a proper life but you have to dig past a lot of dogma and BS sometimes. I think the principles of Buddhism fit very nicely as a basic frame work. Trying to pick a purely "spiritual" path does you no favors. You need to find balance of body and mind. Blending the meditation practices of India's Animism is great for mental focus but what of the body? Martial arts like Kung Fu and Tai Chi when learned for physical focus will allow you to achieve things most of us only dream of.

Now for Psychokinetics? Everyone has the talent to some extent. With proper training the abilities can manifest to some degree or another but most people never realize their capacities. I myself got sick of bad dreams coming true.

I can definitely say with ease what you are looking for is not on any specific path becasue it is different for all people. In all reality you must walk in rain sometimes to get where you are going. So with that think about what you ultimately want and then decide how you will pursue it but have a contingency if the path gets cold.

The truth you seek is not easy to find.

Welcome to humanity. I think you just covered it for everyone. bigsmile

I think you're extremely lucky to have figure out this much as a fairly young age. drinker

I agree with AndyBgood. You've got to follow your own intuition.

I certainly don't mean to be guiding you in any particular direction, but since you asked for input I'll share some things that I found interesting lately.

First off, I don't think you can go wrong watching, or reading, anything from Deepak Chopra. He has a lot of good insight to offer, much of it is just plain common sense. He doesn't really offer a 'specific path', although he does have programs that are based on Indian sutras.

Another source of general information I found interesting was the Temple Series of Witchcraft written by Christopher Penzak. Again, he doesn't carve out a specific path and always encourges the reader to take what works and ignore what doesn't. He tosses everything at you including the kitchen sink. It's a six volume series and in the end he basically challences you to create your own religion. laugh

Some of the the things I've found (from both Deepak and Penczak, as well as others) is that there is value in ancient mythologies, if only because many humans have thought about them.

I think the one thing that all these spiritual teachers do have in common is the idea that we are all a facet of a single cosmic consciousness, so they are all coming at it from various points of view, but they are all basically pointing at the same thing.

Since both Deepak, and Penczak, and basically all mystical teachers stress the importance of following your own intution, I meditated on that specifically and discovered that I am personally drawn to Fairy Lore. Of course, this isn't going to be true for everyone. At least not the Faery lore part. I have a "calling" to ancient wales, as well as ancient China, and India. (going back further in time to each culture).

That particular calling may not be for everyone. But what might be true for everyone is the idea to follow what calls to you. And that was the major message I learned (far too late in life). I actually felt a calling for these things much earlier in life, but I just passed it off as being a 'romantic notion'. I realize now that it goes far deeper than that.

Follow your calling, it's real. That would be my advice.

So true.

And, you're right about the Psychokinetics (I have to look that word up....I always use psychic abilities, but it doesn't seem quite right). I worked for quite a while at developing them and found them to cause me a bit of grief. They are still there, I have them....I just don't know what to do with them now that I've got them and if I should try to make them more useful for myself....but this is a whole other subject. laugh

Here's my advice.

Follow the Yellow Brick Road.

Because it's all about the journey and not the destination. The journey is where you learn and grow and that's actually the goal.
A more evolved "you".

So, pick up a book and start. I also suggest the Penczack series because it's not narrowly focused and will give you a "big picture" view of all this.

Reiki is a specific healing method and you probably don't want to go there until you have a better idea of what the spiritual life is all about.

You will find that once you start exploring, you will be led in the direction you need to go in. And, just when you think you've figured it out and settled on a belief....something will come along to change it.

So, relax and enjoy the ride. Yes, your ADD may be problematic for you, but you may also find many solutions to help you deal with it on this path.

Good luck and feel free to ask any question in here. As you can see from Abra and Andy, there's a lot of knowledge in here and we love to talk. flowerforyou

And, once you decide that you are searching....people will come along at just the right time to point a direction for you. Yeah....like the scarecrow. the Wizard of Oz just sums it up all so well.

Alas, The Wizard is just as confused as all the rest of us. Keep searching for the man behind the curtain. The more you know the truth, the better off you'll be.

In what directions are you pulled? What brings you joy? I had no idea I was a physical medium most of my life...so sometimes it is true you don't see the forest for the trees.
