Reminds me of a story that a friend told me about life in Germany... he was out with a "lady" one cold wintery night... he had a cold. So at one point he pulls out his hankie and blows his nose. His friend says something about American's having strange customs... that blowing one's nose in a cloth and sticking it back in your pocket is gross... he ask's well what's the proper way? She puts a finger on one of her nostrils and blows hard outta the other... and argues that her snot on the ground is far less gross...

What exactly is a walkabout?

when you walk about (the country generally)

It's the Australian equivalent of going out into nature to find yourself. You just walk wherever your feet take you.

In Australia, they use the term when
someone goes missing.
In order to explain it, they would say,
'Well, I guess he went walkabout..'
