As an interested non-com in the US presidential battle, I would like to
hear people's opinion on Fred Thompson.

I find myself drawn to his persona, but not his political views.

Yet on the other hand Rudy G would get some of my vote for his political
views but not even the steam off my coffee for his personality bypass ..

You have had an actor as a president already in the Gipper, now you have
a muppet as a president, so could Texas retain the seat of power?

Fred isn't that well known to the population. It is sad that the popular
person here is generally the one with the most money, therefore the best
smear campaigning. Another sad fact is that a foreigner such as yourself
is up on American politics more than most Americans. Thanks belushi. I
find your comments inviting and not slanderous. That is well
appreciated. From my personal viewpoint I have not seen a viable
candidate from all three legs of the stool yet. Kinda scary, eh?

fred or rudy g.?

either one would keep america going in the right direction, and sorry to
say that would not be the way that non americans would have them go, or
the enemies of the country both foreign and domestic (my opinion).

freds pretty conservative (not a texan tho), he is the type to not be
pushed around by a group of wanna be 'patriots' who's first allegiance
is to the world and not their country. the ones who believe that the
perfect world is out there if only we(Americans) would give up our
independence and freedoms to bow down to the will of the lacking.

rudy the mobster killer, has the tuff as nails persona, seemed to have
done a good job in newyork which is weird since its been known to be
pretty liberal. but i must confess that im not to knowledgable on the
happenings of the big apple.

anyway, i think i like fred, but cant imagine in this popularity contest
having the ignorant electing a man named fred. someday the people will
wake the hell back up and say today we will do what we want to do, the
rest of the world be damned (and i supposed that makes me evil)

oh well who really cares anyway-

I had heard much more talk of Clinton (Bill) being the NWO inside man
than I ever heard Bush. Perhaps the majority of candidates are in fact
NWO candidates of varying ilk.

An actor as leader has some advantage as he can speak to the public,
however being well versed in the complexities of economics and
international relations is important as well. Certainly management
skills are important, which Rudy G seems to be recognized for, but
fundamental understanding of national and international issues have to
take priority.

I get the impression that the election will fall upon party issues more
than either the capabilities of the man or his credentials. This may be
especially true in the primaries. Persona got Swartzeneger (can't spell
that name) elected so clearly it is a factor in the final analysis.

People desperately want to find the next Reagan. That's fine, I wouldn't
mind it too much myself. Thompson is NOT the next Gipper. About the only
three things they have in common are:
1-Both are male.
2-Both are Republicans.
3-Both are actors.
Political-wise, when checking past records, Thompson is much closer to
Bush than Reagan. Reagan was a hard worker who was interested in the
well-being of ALL Americans. Thompson's Senate record is one of laziness
and absenteeism(one of the worst voting records in Senate history-look
it up), and like Bush, a lazy, "I don't really care" attitude that, for
the last 7 years, has allowed unsavory characters like Cheney and Rove
to sink their meathooks into the White House. And,by the way, how in
hell can Thompson claim to be a "Washington outsider" when he's been a
two term Senator AND a Washington lobbyist for 20 years? Sounds like the
ultimate insider to me. Fred vs Rudy? Rudy's been proven under fire.
Fred has accomplished squat. Rudy any day. In the primary, that is. Just
winning the right to lose to a Dem in '08.
