I rarely increase font size when posting something on Mingle2. Yet, I want to make my point clear.

If I want to receive a sermon, then I attend church. I don't use a social networking website such as Mingle2.

I come to Mingle2 to socialize, not to be preached to.

Duffy, have you been looking at some of the posts on the Christian Singles board? They are not dialogues; they are sermons.

preachers are like mothers...they really do think you actually care or are listening to what's dribbling out of their mouths...just don't read, respond or listen and carry on...

sermon - : a religious discourse delivered in public usually by a clergyman as a part of a worship service
2: a speech on conduct or duty

sermons are given in all threads daily.. people get 'passionate' about their experiences and feelings and they post sources to back up their points of view...

while it often comes off as condescending, asking people to determine the difference between a sermon/lengthy opinion and a dialogue would be like asking them to determine the difference between opinions and proven facts,, or the difference between causation and correlation

not gonna happen in an opinion based forum,,,,

I think it just goes with the territory -- when you're in a religion forum, people are going to express their views and sometimes it may come across as preaching....

It's a little bit like going to Baskin-Robbins and not expecting someone to offer you ice cream.

There are plenty of other forums here which contain little or no preaching whatsoever.

What I have been seeing are threads that are meant to be monologues. This thread, in contrary, is a dialogue.

Can't Christians mere chat about things without turning a thread into a church service?

that's the problem dodo. "christians" covers a wide variety of people, and they all have different beliefs. people feel the need to be right or correct about what they believe in. if they read something that is contrary or even slightly different in what they believe they will try to correct. even some christians who are in the same church will try to correct a few church goer. very few people are content in letting sleeping dogs lie.
