Delaware Senate Debate 10/13/10 Part 1 - Christine O'Donnell & Chris Coons

Coons repeatedly insults and demeans his female opponent, even going so far as to claim she is "incoherent" when she points out that he (through a family company) would make billions if "Tax and Trade" were passed.

So because you don't like her politics, she should be demeaned and dismissed?

I watched it and found the way he treated her rude at best and possibly sexist. He pretended he couldn't understand what she was saying, he insulted her almost every time she spoke. That's ignoring the moderator bias of how they cut her off, but allowed Coons to continue speaking when he exceeded his time limit.

Also, I'm not sure that she's claimed he was sexist in the debate, could you provide a link?

I haven't heard that, so I don't believe that's true. She is the one who correctly named the five freedoms in the 1st Amendment, while her opponent could only name three and he incorrectly claimed that the 1st Amendment provided for a "separation of church and state".

It is 'acceptable' to do so only if your are a democrat, if a republican states anything remotely like it they get slammed for days. Worse than that if a republican states an unwelcome truth about immigration they become an instant 'racist'.

I am am independant but I have grown weary of the lopsided coverage of this election.

O'Donnell: "Speaking of cap and trade, your family business stands to financially benefit from some environmental legislation under Bush -- "

*Interruption*

Coons: "A fascinating question that really makes no sense, yet, so if you'd like to -- better ask the whole question, I'd be -- what's she talking about?"

O'Donnell: "I'd like to know if your family business stands to have a financial gain if cap and trade is passed and, if so, would you recuse yourself in the lame duck sessions from voting with Harry Reid?"

Coons: "Fascinating question. No."

Wolf Blitzer pushes O'Donnell on her claim and she points out that WL Gore (the company owned by Coon's step-father) makes Hydrogen Fuel cells that the Government will mandate if Tax and Trade passes. Wolf questions Coons and after much running around the bush, he finally admits that it's true.

When Coons was a lawyer for his step-fathers company seven years ago, he was quoted as saying of Tax and Trade: "This is one of those very rare moments where the legislative outcome matters to (W.L.) Gore."

in fairness, whatever party they are, they will all find 'mud' on the other to sling

and none of them will have the 'right' answers for every question,,,off the tops of their heads

They can get rich while we go poor.

Like signing a bill that grants millions or even billions of dollars to a company that they have partial ownership of...we lose out on millions or even billions of dollars tax-wise and their company comes out on top with that money.

It really isn't all that difficult to understand the motives for almost all of the politicians, republican or democrat...they're both crooked. Independent parties don't get voted in, although it is nice to see on a local level at least here in Colorado that we may get a libertarian in.

The main problem is that people are lazy or don't read/can't read, yes, I am making fun of all of Americans here for the most part. Those of you who do already know that everyone else is pretty much wrong 99% of the time, why? Because America is full of morons that are greedy, so they elect people like Obama or Bush that makes sure the rich get richer.

We're such a naive country, it will be a great day when we fall into total and complete anarchy.

Good day.

I have no problem with the rich getting richer...so long as everyone else gets richer also. Removing burdensome taxes and regulations would allow that. One crazy thing the Government has done is allowing early start-ups to help write the regulations. Who wrote the Government regulations on recycling? Recycling companies had a big hand it in and they wrote the laws to benefit themselves. Did you know it would be illegal for you to collect recyclables and pay the donors enough so that you broke even? The recycling companies have made the law so that you can't be paid how much your recycling is actually worth, only what is marked on the label or in the price / lbs set in the legislation.

I'm tired of the two popular parties and the daily kindergarten tripe that goes along with it, I've voted for the past two elections for 3rd party candidates and i hope others will give them a shot.
