I've recently purchased a new Toshiba Satellite PC, and it has WIN7 loaded.

I have a Canon MP250 printer/scanner which is less than a year old. The PC and printer are connected via a D-link USB hub. I've tried using more than one port on the hub, and the fault follows the printer, although other devices work fine when plugged into the hub.

When I first set-up my PC I could print with no problems. After a few weeks, I noticed that the 'ready' light on my printer goes off after about 10 minutes, so each time I wanted to print I had to hit the start button before sending a document to print.

Now it won't even print when I do that. If I send a doc to print, it sits in the queue but more often than not it won't actually print the document. However, sometimes it prints about 1/3 of the document then stops.

If I switch off the printer and switch back on just before sending a doc to print, most of the time it prints, but not always.

If this doesn't work, a re-boot will normally allow me to print. Once I've printed one document it will allow me to print others, as long as there's only a couple of minutes between each print.

After about 10 mins the ready light goes off again, and so the cycle repeats.

Can anyone help me with this?

I'm not a computer geek, so please go gently with me!

Thank you!

Have you updated your printer software? it sounds like you are either not updated or something in a Windows update may have altered the driver registry so you need to update your printer drivers. Go to the printer's manufacturer website and see if there is any updates for your particular printer. 9 times out of 10 that solves issues like yours.

Thank you everyone for your help.

Finally it's working again. YAY!!!!!

I eventually had to de-install the printer and upload the latest drivers then re-install the printer. Had to do the whole process twice as I didn't realise that I had to physically disconnect the printer first, but I got there in the end!

do your print jobs spool? clear your que if everything hasn't printed- check ur settings in printers & faxes. make sure it is set as the default printer. and ya, you might have to reinstall drivers, or download updated drivers - both can be done in ur control panel - good luck

Thanks sweetestgirl

It's all sorted out now. The re-install of the printer and uploaded drivers seems to have fixed the problem.
