country in the world. Some of it's citizens expect people to be ashamed of it, apologize for it. Whatever happened to being proud of your country? I tell you what, I see it like this. If you have that big of a problem with it, then get out. If you can get treated so much better somewhere else, then go there. I for one am sick of hearing people bash this country. Sure it's not perfect, but what is? You are here via the Internet, so I guess life isn't that unjust to you after all is it. And about our flag.......display your flags proudly! When did this become a bad thing? Oh but it's okay to bow to other countries. Don't say anything because you might hurt someone's feelings. Let me cry a river! I just watched a video where a school made a young boy take an American flag off of his bike and it rubbed me the wrong way. If I offended you, put your big kid undies on and deal with it. You that bull that people always spew "love it or leave it" It's not so easy is it? |

I'll tell you what, I'm British and proud of it. Our history goes way way back and slowly but surely I think our heritage and way of life here is being eaten away. But I wouldn't swap my ancestry or country for any other place on earth.

Sometimes in order to respect all, there can be none of something. It isn't personal.
In the case of religion and flags and things this applies. If one kind of flag flying is allowed in school all flag flying can be allowed. Mexican flags can be flown, Islamic flags can be flown, etc... making for a difficult time for the school administration. People have a hard time seeing outside of themselves sometimes to see the big picture. This is a big picture deal here. Patriotism in this country has nothing to do with a flag. The flag is a cloth that is used to recognize this country. Patriotism in this country is voting, working with the government to make sure that this country is the best it can be for all humans in it's borders. Recognizing that the founders of this country designed it the best they knew how but they did not try to create an unchanging unevolving structure of cement for this country. |
