For a friend long since gone.

They Lied

They lied you know
it's really not that bad
When you know it's coming...
Though I must admit, it's sad
What might have been prevented
or at least stopped in it's tracks
If I never had relented
not fallen through the cracks
But hey, that's done now
there's no one here to blame
It's time to move forward
hell nothing stays the same

Funny how I can dread it
yet welcome, with open arms
Fear of the unknown can be like that
Honestly! Death can have it's charms
They all fear a lie and a fable
an ugly human stain
Playing the part of Able
yet treated like I were Cain
Enough of that, it bares no fruit
and binds the soul like chain
Fear of the unknown is at it's root
and creates only hatred and distain

So, soon I'll be a memory
someone else's wretched pain
A lonely night, a cold hard bed
darkened skies and falling rain
A silent tear
in a caring eye
a gentle hug,
and a warm
"goodbye"

Often I wonder how I'll be remembered. As often, I dismiss it, for I know how dust blows. I appreciated this piece, from your heart.

How or even if... How we are remembered comes in direct equivalence to the number of people we've had a positive effect on... you've little wot worry about

very nice and warm statements of heart here given..

To me its not when or how I have left here, but only IF I leave something behind me here, for another person to feel through and grow from....This is a very NICE READ!!

I've lost ALL my best friends, and their always in my eyes and mind..

Even at times we feel that we have been forgotten, in reality if we touched their hearts if only for a moment our memory will surface from time to time.... whoa

This speaks volumes to me, and is a welcome reminder that my husband's pain is now over.

Thank you. flowerforyou

Oh so true

Denny, your welcome. It was for people like you and myself that I wrote the piece. Thank you for warming my heart

I've written something about the subject just recently, and this just reminded me of how I am wishing I don't have to write about the subject again. Sometimes people say that writing acts as a catharsis, but it really does not. It only supplies the words that are not even precise to the sadness you felt inside. Nice work, Davey.

Hi lace, I think how writing effects you depends a lot on the person writing and their own sensibilities and what they do after. I know sometimes after I write something I just dwell on it for ages. In that situation it really only makes it worse in my opinion. But more often for me I tend to write and just let go. Painful during the writing for sure but for me there's an almost euphoric feeling after I write something like this.

And of course thank you for your kind words at the end. I've enjoyed everything of yours I've read so far.
