I'm a dude, and I can say this for a fact. There are ALOT of dudes who love to gossip. Hell, you see it all the time at work. You'll have a meeting with your boss, and once you come out of said meeting, guys will come up to ya asking "What happened"? Or, "Why did the boss call you in the office"? Lol.
Historically, I know women have been viewed as "the gossipers" and while this is a true statement for some women, it is also true for some men. I think men tend to tell more "tall tales" to build up there ego. Why? Well, the male ego requires it. We want to feel more important, look like we matter. So, we may tell a true story about ourselves....with a little bit of exaggeration added in. That's just how a lot of dudes roll. |

Not disputing that men also gossip. Point being, women in general... are quicker to spill others secrets rather than their own, that's the difference between telling their secrets to a man or so and just gossip.

i was originally referring to matters of the heart (hense ~in dating and relationships) it got turned into a joke on the women not being able to keep their mouths shut with jeff's first post... i think, now i'm confused

ok, I see I'll need to change the verbiage for the male's to get it. females LOVE to tell secrets about others, see.. that would be gossip, girls seem to like that. The secrets they hold in their hearts about themselves are the ones they hold back on. so, seems Jeff, freak and krupa..your hanging out with the biotches who like gossip and spill their guts about others... What? How dare you say that kind of schitt..... I have no idea what you have been drinking but you just stepped across a line with me. Have a good life. Yep defintaely, if someone talks to me and is sensitive and caring I would tell him anything he wants to know, If he gets on here and tells me how wonderful he is, I will not tell him anything....
If he wants to talk about himself, I let him, If he wants to listen and be my friend, he can have my secrets. |

I see it as a sign that a woman trusts me and wants to be with me when she starts telling me her secrets, or what makes her heart tick. When I'm with a woman that mean a lot to me, and I love her, I tell stories about my past so that she can understand what makes my heart tick. |

when it comes to gossip and secret keeping Ive never really seen a big difference between men and women...the difference seems to be in what and who they gossip about and what kind of secretes men and women keep.
I cant speak for a man anymore than a man can speak for me..and its a bit offensive to read men speaking as if they are the authority on ALL women... I have known men that were sneaky, lying sacks of poop...that doesnt mean all men are that way.... |

Okay. Stated another way to help keep on the intended track (I think)
For the women out there. If in a one-on-one evening spent together, your man starts to tell you stories about things that have happened to him and tried to convey how they shaped him to be who he was. What would that mean to you? |

You got it Jon..yes..that was the original point to the thread.... then it was turned into the subject of gossip, which was never what I was talking about (as stated in the 3rd post) when I used the term 'secrets'.. secrets of the heart, is was what I meant. I knew someone would get it eventually...  |
