Topic: Being in an equal relationship...

In some relationships the man is the boss...In other relationships the wife seems to call most of the shots...Have you noticed this? I prefer to be in a relationship where both partners operate as equals and best friends...How about you?

Agreed. Equals and best friends. Each individual has strengths and weaknesses. Finding a way to compliment each other with each one's strengths is good. Working together as a team. No one likes to be controlled. So people shouldn't try to control others. Support and encourage each other!

Some people prefer more traditional relationships, where the man is in charge and takes the lead on everything. I am not one of those people. I prefer we both have a say and make decisions on what we'd like to do.

I would not be in a relationship that was..unequal. I do best in the background, so I am always happy if he takes the reins. But the respect must be equal.

Hmmm I guess that I would like to be equal, but ultimately if a decision needed to be made, I would probably rather leave it to my partner.

In my last relationship I definitely called the shots. Had to. It lasted for 6 years. I think one or the other is usually dominant, but not usually to the point of being pushy or making important decisions alone.
