the reason we are in Iraq again,is because we suspected Saddam of having some bad stuff (like he used on the curds)WMDS are more than nukes by the way!& he wouldn't let the U.S. or the u.n. or anyone for that matter to inspect his country to see if he was clean, he kept pushing everyone away, so rather than take a chance we did something about it. albeit not the best planned war! any way you gotta be retarded to think it's about oil. maybe that is why Australia went but not us.

The title of post this shows very much how the spin works.
According to this title, there are no other reasons for the Australian presence. However if you actually listen to what the man said, he said energy security is one of the reasons. Key here is that this is one of many reasons. The original post tried to paint it as if this man said the reason for going to war in Iraq was for this reason, where again if you listen to what the man said, it is a reason for the continued Australian presence, thus a reason that has come up after the initial incursion. Just as with anything, once something is in motion, new reasons come up to keep them in motion.
Complete spin doctor work by the liberal media.
This reminds me of those that claim that Saddam did not have a NBC program, because the inspectors said that they could not prove that he did or did not. Yet the liberal media spun that as a definitive he did not.

Barbiesbigsister,

The Sun is going through a very active period of time right now. A single solar flare is 20x the size of the earth and far hotter than the surface of the sun. So more energy is being released by the sun. The earth is powered by the sun, so the earth receives more energy in the form of heat. There are many scientists who believe that the sun is exclusively responsible for global warming. I know that a lot of people don't accept that, but I will take a world renowned climitologist's word over a failed politicians any day.

Glad to see we're back on topic. Reading some of the posts, I was starting to think I'd hit the Scooter Libby thread by mistake. The bottom line is we have WAY too much dependence on oil. As I said in an earlier post, that's because politicians-Republican AND Democrat-are waist deep in involvement in the oil industry. That's why, regardless of which party's in power, we'll never commit ourselves as a nation to develop and mass produce alternative fuel sources. I say we not only vote out any politician who has oil interests, but also don't elect anyone who's heavily tied in with big oil. As long as oil people are in charge, we'll be in wars for oil till doomsday.
