Here is a quote for yall to argue over.

It is one of the reasons why we are supposed to be a republic...

and why the 'democratic' solution is not working.

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largess of the public treasury. From that time on the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the results that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy,..."

I will let you discover who wrote this.

it was in the 1700's.

I would say that we have been (as a Nation) subjected to 'largess of the public treasury' by the vote and the 'protest' for quite some time.

The same author also stipulates that a 'democracy' has a life expectancy of roughly 200 years followed by a 'dictatorship' to clean up the mess...

One hopes that the Republic we are supposed to be can 'clean this up' by the responsible action of its citizens.

We the People rule... Not a 'party'. Not a 'class of elites'.

but the greatest Union of all...

We the People, Under God.

That old Alexander Tytler is a favorite of the Conservatives on these board. He was a nobody. Some kind of a minister from the 18th century. The country was barely even born.

""In the end, more than freedom, they [the Athenians] wanted security. They wanted a comfortable life, and they lost it all ... security, comfort and freedom. When the Athenians finally wanted not to give to society but for society to give to them, when the freedom they wished for most was freedom from responsibility, then Athens ceased to be free and was never free again."

Thomas Jefferson...

Kinda fits this generation of americans does it not?

Both Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin both said similar things. So did Cicero of Rome back around 30 or 40 AD I believe.

Funny how Liberals are under the belief Government has an obligation to support people!

I'm old. I can't recall what it was I read a few years ago that the author stated a democracy is a short-term endeavor with a shelf-life of about 200 years. Hmmmm, me thinks we're getting stale at this point....

Actually, I think these concepts were first written by Plato in "The Republic".

here is some food for thought.

"blueprint of how to go about analyzing the class structure of decadent societies that are ripe for revolution,..." this is taken from a document describing how revolutions can be 'initiated'...

Within that document is a discription of how to use internatonal NGO's to educate the local populations and redirect their energies to 'change' their form of government.

We have over 22,000 NGO's operating in the United States.

I'm watching the TV series "ROME" Right now. Its about the reign of Julius Caesar. STEAMY! REAL HOT AND ALL THAT STEAMY!

BUT BUT BUT, the politics, actually the show was pretty non anachronistic so far. it also was sticking pretty much to a dramatized version of what happened in the days of Julius Caesar.

Back then the complaint was that since all the really rich people could own slaves they didn't need to hire people. That meant Rome had a huge issue with unemployment of its citizens. In a way what was happening then is going on now but this time instead of slaves the problem is illegal immigrants.

Now for all those BHL shitte heads who fancy themselves so educated and think the DNC is really acting on our interests turning a blind eye to illegal immigration... If you cannot see the parallels you are blind, stupid, and ignorant all in one package!
