| Topic: why do SO many people fake who they are? | |

I mean more than just their pictures. People say they are different genders, different ages, etc. I just don't understand. I am proud to say that I am 21, a female and all of my pictures are real, why would you WANT to be somebody else?? This makes NO sense to me. I want to get to know real people and their real personalities, not something that they make up. (And no, I am not bitching, just curious as to what you all will say)

Some people are unhappy with who they are and figure they can be someone completely different online. I will never understand that, but those kind of people are definitely out there.

I have realized this. And it is quite annoying. I will talk to someone for a week or so and then they say "I'm really a man" and it is frustrating.

They want to be immediately popular and they think that sure-fire formulas would get them their short term fix.

Be glad you found out after a week, I talked to a guy for nearly a year and found out he was old and married. OMG i would be SOOOOOOOOOOO pissed!!! I kinda know the feeling, i met a guy online, talked to him for a few months fell in love, he moved closer, i thought to be closer to me and we dated for 5 or 6 months before I found out that he was doing about 4 other girls. |

I had talked to someone for a while, too, and found out that he was engaged to be married and had a kid with his fiancee. Surprisingly, that never came up while we were talking. |

but, i really am a gypsy fortune teller with vampire tendencies.
 there's fake everywhere, but online gives the opportunity to some to fake even more, sad. it's why i like the forums, fake people will generally slip up somewhere over time.

why do SO many people fake who they are? Same reason they do on the outside. They are not best pleased with who they are. Only on the internet, it is a hella lot easier. |

Yeah, and when he admitted it I asked him what the heck he hoped to gain from lying on such a huge scale. His excuse was he knew I wouldn't have talked to him otherwise and he really wanted to get to know me. Still, to what end???? I don't do married or old, ugh. Then he started cyberstalking me and I had to delete one of my email accounts just to get away from him.
