would definitely want that to work out with me...and If he would just keep on holding on to what we have

I guess I'll find out. I've had a very good relationship with an attractive young lady for just over a year. I've been forced to take a job that'll keep me away from home for 2 or 3 weeks at a time and home for only a couple of days.

Neither of us like this, but it seems we have no other choice. good jobs are hard to come by these days.

Sometimes they work, sometimes not. I met Angel on here a little over 3 years ago. We were long distance for nearly a year, but now we are together. They have about an 80-90% failure rate. We were extremely lucky. It largely depends on how committed each of you are to making it work.

It all depends on how to people are willing to actually communicate with each other. The reality of it though, we wouldn't be here if more people new what the concept of communication was.

Long distance doesn't work for me, but it may for someone else!

Awwww, that is so kind. We cannot get closer as I am currently being held hostage by a bunch of guys in white suits. But, email me and maybe we can hook up after Han and the little blonde kid rescue me. flowerforyou

I know of some that have worked out. I've tried it a few times and would never do it again, though.

I've seen a few from here work

it's a process - harder to really get to know the person - and eventually someone will have to move

it helps if 1 or both have some ability to be mobile - so I might be willing to start that way...definitely not willing to keep it that way

but that's just me

It's impossible to keep the "Internet Dating" thing going for long without actual physical contact. We as humans just aren't wired to where we can be happy with talking to a screen name for months on end.

On the "harder to get to know the person" statement, I don't agree. I think that when all you have is talk/phone you are forced to talk by situation if you want it to go anywhere.

If you both get on great, then yeah.

Thanks to all who responded. I met the girl some 5 years ago over myspace and became pretty good friends since. A few months ago we decided to go for it and date, we are from opposite ends of the country and for the first time ever... I'm going to visit her in the summer.

We have good and open communication going for us, trust has been established. Talking is a bit of a challenge since we got a 3 hour time zone difference and she usually goes to sleep early (for my time anyways.) but we do text all day, we do sometimes talk on the weekends when it's free for us.

Does long distance relationship work out?

It depends on who is paying the long distance bill.
