As far as whether or not I would date somebody who's unemployed really comes down to WHY they're not working. For instance, if it's for medical reasons (either temporary or permanent) it's not really a big deal. If it's because of the economy and they were laid off or something like that and are having a hard time finding more work, still not a big deal. Well, as long as it hasn't been an EXCESSIVE amount of time. The economy isn't that bad where you can't find SOMETHING even if it isn't your 'dream job'. Now, if they just don't WANT to work and would rather sponge off of gov't assistance........ Chances are they don't even have a shot with me.

^^^^ I agree with UJ!

As long as your not just taking advantage of the system just because your lazy. then why wouldn't I give you a chance? Hell my ex husband was unemployed for almost a year and I didn't kick him out for only being unemployed. It was the girlfriend that I couldn't handle.

I don't have a problem with dating a unemployed person as long as there interest in being unemployed is temporary.

im a full time student with kids so right now my parents are helping me a little financially, but i definitely dont consider myself "undateable" because im not doing paid work right now. doesnt mean im not a fantastic person

I agree. I came back from living in Europe four years ago and have not been able to find a steady job here ... but "somehow" I managed to take care of three kids (two of whom are grown and on their own now) being "unemployed". How? I got creative.

I've done ghost writing, proofreading, copy writing, cake decorating, sold books and things on eBay and a host of other things to support my girls. Yeah, I'm not rich but whatever I have, I own. Currently, I've returned to college to make myself more marketable ... but I still plan to work from home.

I have no problem dating someone who is unemployed, semi-retired or fully retired, for that matter. It depends on the circumstances and what kind of person they present themselves to be.
