I dont really think a four year old CAN sell anything unassisted by an adult. So the adult should try to understand the laws before they subject the child to such a confrontation.

I don't think you understand. THIS sums up everything that is wrong with America and our legal system right here. When an innocent 4 year old girl can have her lemonade stand shut down because of some legal bs, than no one is safe. If they came for her, they'll come for you too.

Our government is nothing more than a big bully trying to assert it's dominance over all of us. We have to wake up and say enough is enough before it's too late. I fear it may already be though.

It's not too late till they take away our right to bear arms (the rest of the way).

They're working on it. As it is though too many of us have our eyes closed in my estimation.

I do understand.

'local authorities are applying to a 4-year-old girl the same standards they apply to people her parent’s age'

they went after the lemonade stand, not the girl
they are not permitted without a permit, even if some clever adult gets the idea to stick their child in the stand instead,,,,

No I don't think you do, because sometimes you have to use common sense, and this is a lack of it. A good law enforcer should know when to look the other way on something, if it isn't harming anyone. But we don't do that anymore do we......

its probably a state issue

what has that to do with 'common sense'? do we know WHERE the stand was set up? what the traffic would be like? what type of distraction it might cause? what kind of harm it might put the child in?

Do we consider that there were GOOD reasons why they think a permit is reasonable? OR are they automatically bad because they told someone they cant do something....? or worse yet that they had to do the same thing everyone else has to do...?

All permits amount to is money, it's just another way for the greedy to line their pockets. They can say it's about safety all they want, but I don't buy one damn word of it. They just use that as the justification for their bullcrap, because they know people will be stupid enough to buy it and we have been.

Hell if it wasn't about money, why not just let permits be free? Would that be so hard to do? If they did that, maybe I'd believe them when they say they give a damn about safety, but till then I will always believe all this amounts to is more and more control over the populace and more and more money going into their wallets. And you wonder why the middle class is evaporating.........

Don't even get me started on that. Here in this area you're limited to having like 1 or 2 garage sales a year. It's a total farce.

Absolute power, corrupts absolutely. People need to start waking up.

permits allow the city to collect revenue. the city provides services for citizens and those services cost money. you are free to travel anywhere in the continental united states without a permit. try living in an unpopulated area, i'm sure you will soon see that garbage pick up, emergency services, electrical, water, sewage, and several other things you are taking for granted will not be available

Those children and their evil lemonade stands with evil real lemons are a danger to the profits of giant corporations who make genuine lemon-flavored chemicals to sell to us all! If we all start buying real lemonade with real lemons from real children, the terrorists will win!

here is the basic answer for the question 'why not let permits be free'

and we can substitute the word permits with about any other thing, product, or service

,,because it is generally held that peoples time and effort are worth something and to produce, document, record and maintain records takes the time and effort of others
