We went to the movies and before we went in he had already gone to the grocery store and purchased two sandwiches and asked me to sneak
them in by putting them in my purse,we go inside and he asked for the
senior discount rate, and instead of getting a soda to drink he asked for two small cups of ice so that we could drink water so needless to say that was the end of that ,there is a point of being to cheap ,when i was invited out to the movies rant

You must be very insecure to valuate the date
by the amount of $$ spent.
I assume he paid for the food, the gas, the
tickets and allocated you some hours
of his time.
Ummm, what did you contribute??

What's wrong with saving money, there's not much of it around these days. Think yourself lucky that you even got a drink.

Ha you are not gonna get much sympathy on this site for that. Yes lets determine a date by the amount of money he spends. Some people just don't have that much money to throw around. Does that mean they are not good enough for you?

It sounds like all of your dates were picture perfect? when you dont know me or what other circumstances took place toodles to you toogrumble

Being frugal is fine, but assuming she'd sneak in sandwiches on what sounds like a first date seems wrong for a variety of reasons.
IMHO

i'm with you on this one girl. if a man can't afford to splurge when going out with a woman, say something (maybe she is willing to go dutch) a night home with a sammich and water is fine, but when you go out it should be something at least a little special

i'm with the OP.

what a cheap @$$. yes movies are expensive. and the concessions are ridiculous, but if you can't afford it rent a movie and get a pizza. stay home and have a good night in.

no, a date shouldn't be rated on how much money is spent, but let's be realistic.

Next time, it sounds like you need to ask your date upfront if he's going to be paying for your food, rather than assuming.

Have a picnic first and then manage the whopping 2 hours without a snack???? Concessions are pricey, so I get it. It's the way it sounds like it was handled that bugs me-not the dollars saved or spent.

i don't think it's an assumption on who's treat it is when you are invited. the person offering the invitation should be the host. if you are inviting someone and don't intend to host, you should be up front about the financing of the outing. the person invited could offer to cover some of the cost, but i really feel if you invite you pay

really? is that something you'd be comfortable asking someone? it's not like asking if there's going to be a meal on a flight somewhere. how's that conversation going to go?

Whenever I go to the movies, if we actually want a snack, we sneak it in rather than paying expensive prices.

Actually, I never assume the other person is going to pay. I bring enough money to cover what I want. If he offers, cool. But, I'm happy to split the bill as well.

For those who assume that the guy is always going to pay, times have changed quite a bit. So, if it's important enough to them, they may want to find out beforehand, so they're not disappointed.

I just plan on splitting the bill, usually. I always offer to pay my half as well.

Aside from the perceived "cheapness", how was the date?
