We had to rush our cat to the vet today because he ate an entire elastic hairband.
He almost had to have surgery ,but luckily he puked it all up. The vet said we were very lucky.
Just wanted to pass this warning on that some cats really like round ,elastic things, and yes they will eat it.
But I also learned from the vet, that if you ever see something hanging from your cats butt NOT to pull it out as it could be wrapped on his intenstine and you could really cause damage.Instead rush him straight to vet.
I hope this info will be useful and spare some other kitty.

It coulda turned out like my brothers cat after eating string. She crapped it out and it scared her, so she took off through the house with a trail of crap on a rope following behind....

Hi Tim
I always knew of the dangers of tinsel so I don't put it on the tree. But a hairband was nothing I ever thought of.

I would of never thought of hairbands, one of my cats likes to eat cellaphane wrappers, so I try to throw those away immediatley, oh and the biggest thing toilet paper, and one time along time ago I had some loose change sitting on a small table, my female cat got up there and had a dime in her mouth, thank God I got to her in time and got it out of her mouth, so you never know what your pets will get into, just always be careful to keep things out of there reach, but thus being cats, well they are smart, glad your cat is Okay Bettyflowerforyou flowerforyou flowerforyou

Thank you Christine, its kind of our fault in a way cause he loved to swat the hairband around so we let him play with it, never thinking he would eat it.
It wasn't the hard plastic kind it was the elastic rubber type.
I also learned that cats licking plastic bags is toxic to them after a period of time.
I have had many cats before, but never one like himlaugh
