What if they did not have to hide what if it was their choice and they are just a private person? Or What if they feel that anybody can take a pic of anybody and post it on a profile it doesn't mean that's what they look like? I'm just asking what if its just a silent statement of get to know me for me.

There are people that post fake or old pictures of themselves. I think I've seen Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise on sites laugh

Or, like me, I have an avatar. I have real pictures that are on private, but I'm not looking to date or anything. I'm just here for the forums and to make friends.

Exactly my point, and I bet you feel that I don't need to see you to be your friend....am I right because thats how I feel... I would feel worse invading you privacy to pry about a pic then not seeing one on your profile.

Oh I make my real pictures public once in a while. And I have facebook for friends. Not really a privacy issue for me. It's more like it's easier to have an avatar or something because most who are looking for more, would just bypass my profile.

But there are some that will take someone's picture and create accounts on other sites out of malice too.

There are just many reasons out there for no picture.

Even the ones with a picture, you don't know if it's really them or if it's recent. So to me it's all the same lol

When I first came on line I was really hesitant to post pictures because one I was afraid of attracting a kook or getting responses from people I had worked with in a professional setting as a social worker. There professional distance is a big deal; even a safty issue. Knowing convicted felons and profoundly mentally ill have computer access and skills that put mine to shame I was nervous.

But I quickly found out that nice people felt if they stuck their neck out to be honest and upfront they pretty much expect the same thing so I added conservative pictures.

Yes I have gotten some responses I would just as soon forget but most are nice and I have come to see the majority who don't post pictures are usually hiding something; usually a partner or a mean mouth where their picture being posted would get their profile flagged.

Doesn't mean I run right out and have my picture taken every six weeks for the collectors and neurotics that have to have a photo resume to decide wheather my current looks are acceptable to them. lol But then I don't profess to be anything but what I am.

Nice to see you around again!

There are many reasons...they could be hiding something or from someone, they may not have a camera to take a picture, they may not want a picture on the internet for privacy reasons...and a lot of people are now using sites with cell phones and this site (like many others) don't fully support cell phones.

So it could be they are hiding (for whatever reason) or they don't have the ability to put one up

True, there are people out there who just use their cell phones. It would be nice to see this site provide support for those people. Other sites out there do, so it would be good to see here as well.

Everyone has different preferences. People just need to find others who have preferences that match up. If someone preferred to be more private and not post a picture, that's fine, but they would not be what I'm looking for.

As for those who post pictures that don't look like them, they can only hide that for so long.

Most of the other sites I have seen don't support phones 100%. I read othe forums at times.

It's not as simple as it seems. There are too many factors. Some cell do work on sites, some don't.

I wasn't saying all sites do this, nor that it was easy. I do know of a couple that have created apps for cell phone users though. So, it's nice to see the support for those who don't always use a computer.

Some of the paying sites and networking sites (like facebook and twitter) have apps. Most sites, like Mingle, have the same issues. Some cell phones work and some don't. It's easy to find what works by going into the help forums. I have seen the same problem on all of the sites, like this one, that I have seen.

Sites are still catching up to technology.

My point is that some people want to post pictures but aren't able due to the technology.

It's just another reason someone might not have a picture

Neither site I'm talking about is a site you pay for.

I am also not talking about networking sites, such as Facebook.

As for not being able to post pictures due to technology, if they really want to, they'll find a way. There are so many people out there who have computers, cameras, phones with cameras and so on. There's a way to get your picture online if you really want to.

I'm thinking of one site that you might be and I have seen the same issues in their help forums as well.

I've given an example using my niece. But like I said...it's a reason that someone might not have a picture. That doesn't mean they won't eventually get one uploaded. Just because they might not have one yet, might just mean they haven't found a computer to use yet.

Kim, I'm not here to argue about it. All I was saying was that it would be nice to see cell phone users be able to upload pictures. That's it. If it can't be done, it can't be done.

I'm sure there are those out there who will be more understanding of those who have issues posting pictures.

Yes it would be nice. I would love to see that even though I don't use them. I simply gave pther examples and replied to you and explained it. Some may not understand why sites don't have apps

I feel the same way.

No picture to me means, hiding something.

Or they are really worried what others will think of their looks.

Or some are in jobs where they don't want their pictures on a public site. I know of cops, firefighters, and even teachers that won't post a picture on the site for personal reasons. I have always given the person the benifit of the doubt as to why they don't post a picture.
