Topic: What if you knew the future?

What if you knew what was going to happen in the future and when but you could not really change or effect the major events?

How would you conduct your life? Would you live your life differently?

How COULD I live my life differently if I couldn't change or effect the major events? And what would be the point of trying?

Well if you knew certain people were going to die on certain dates, or that a tornado was going to hit a certain town at a certain time, you can't stop the tornado but maybe you could inform some of the people in the town.

I don't think they would believe you, and they might think you are a nut case, but would you try?

And what would informing or trying accomplish if it couldn't alter the event?

(BTW, this IS very interesting.....)

You may not be able to stop or alter the tornado, but you might be able to save some lives by telling some people... or at least by not going to that town on that day yourself.

Future events:

I have a friend who sometimes does see events in the future or at least for some reason she knows what is going to happen, and sometimes she just blurts them out in conversation.

I have seen her do this and I have seen the people she was talking to, and they just don't seem to hear her. They just go on talking as if she did not say it.

She did that about the death of a woman I knew well here and even went into detail about exactly how she died because of something wrong with her spine. I can't remember the small details, but several months later that woman was all bent over and could not stand up strait. She was that way for quite a few months, then I heard that she had died.

If course I could not obtain any of the details of why she died. The woman that had predicted it did not even remember what she had said. The woman she told it to did not even hear it when she told it to her.

**

Okay what if you knew something like this about someone? Would you tell them? I'm not so sure I would. People would not hear it or they would think I was nuts.

I think I'd do it only if the person's death would be greeted by them as a relief or ray of hope for the end of whatever suffering they might be going through at that moment.

I am not sure.......if she didnt remember doing it, how would she tell the person that didn't hear her in the first place?

She told a person about it (a relative of the woman who died) and I was there, and I heard it. When I spoke to her a few months later about it, she did not remember saying it.

She just blurts things out like that as if she can't control what she is saying.

She's getting better at not doing that now, but she is still sort of psychic.

Gotcha....I think it would scare me a bit actually.

If that possiblility was thrown into the mix, then one WOULD be able to change or alter the major events. And also, which part of the event is "major" is relative to who is experiencing it (human casualties vs. property damage, etc.).

Just live you life as this day was your last. Look for the positive without knowing the future and enjoy what you have at hand. No sense worrying about what you have no control over.....

Lets just say the tornado. You knew it was coming. Details about who died is unknown to you.

Good philosophy. But what if you do know the future?

I agree that there is no sense worrying about what you have no control over.

That includes other people's lives and decisions.

So why do people worry?

The variables entering this discussion at this point are starting to rival the uncertainty of any given present moment. I don't have a clue of what I would do.

Well even if a person knew or saw the future, how much power would one person be likely to have in changing it?

And if they could not change anything except stuff that had to do with their own life, how would one handle knowing about it?

They would just get through it as best they could.

Maybe win the lottery. laugh laugh

Okay for example,

If I could go back to before John Kennedy was assassinated with what I know and think I know about what happened.

I think I would be smart enough to know that if I tried to get involved, I myself could be in danger.

I could try to warn him and tell him not to go to Texas, but I think someone already did that, and he ignored them.

But if he decided not to go, it might have saved his life that day, but maybe they would kill him on another day.

Imagine a future where he lived and succeeded in getting rid of the Federal Reserve notes and congress started printing real money.

That's what he was about to do when they shot him.

it doesn't make any sense... if you can't change anything, then what is the point?... i would by stock in microsoft, IBM and others, but how could we know the future? There might be a way to go into the future, but i cannot see a way to go into the past...

I don't think a person can know the future in detail for the long term, but I think a person could know it or see it in shorter terms.

In the tarot card reading, I call it "momentum of cause." But my friend could actually see and just 'know' details out of the blue, even when she knows nothing about the momentum of the cause at work.

It just comes to her in a flash ... of knowing. I don't know how she gets it or from where.

I taught her to read tarot cards, but in reality, she does not need the cards to do a reading for someone. They assist her, but she gets her information from an inner source.

We actually are sort of going into the future when we plan what we are going to do the next day and we intend something.

Intention alone starts the wheels turning in the momentum of cause and starts cranking out the future.

I would stay the same, my core values are me. Since I couldn't affect the major events there would be no sense in screaming "look out" to everyone for disasters. I am assuming I could not change "anything."

I dont want to know the future. I enjoy the fact that God is in charge. And only He knows what our future holds for us.

I don't believe that's true. Because of free will, and the law of cause and effect, the future is not set. Therefore,a God can't even know the details.
