For staying in shape, what do you think is the best exercise for you?

For me, it's hard work & mental exercise.

I am a trainer at a gym and i always tell people to enjoy excerise, if you dont enjoy it you will not stick to it and the most important part of any excerise is the longevity. you cant work out for two months than not for years, so find something you like and stick with it. excerise does get boring so hopefully you are in an area that can offer a range of excerises or classes. Good luck and have fun.

Had a friend whos wife decided she wanted a $2,500 treadmill to get into shape.

Wakes her up early saturday morning a drives her to Academy sports store and parks at the very back parking spot. He gets out of the truck about a hundred yards away ...she says "What are you doing?"

He says..."we are here to get you that treadmill."

She says..."Why did you park this far away? I don't wanna walk that far."

He said....."Get back in the truck."

She didn't get the treadmill.

Good advice.
I love the gym (have been away 6+ months
with a pulled tendon) and when it gets
boring I switch something up.

Kick-boxing sucked hahaha
Fencing looks fun.
And as Prashant said, the mental acuity
needs tweaking all the time, the forums
help there I think. And online games.

Walking, gradening, and carpentry are the three forms of excercise I found work for me because I can push myself to do them when I really don't want to. No offense to anyone who does it but going to the gym is probably the last thing I will resort to. Now a pool that can lure me back into better habits so I might be shaped more like a porpoise than anything I still find it easy on the joints and worth the effort.

I do 40 minutes of cardio and 80 minutes or so of resistance training. I'm just trying to stay toned and get back to what I weighed before ESRD.

I enjoy walking and hiking. We have some great trails locally and I love to use them in the fall, winter and spring. I would probably enjoy bicycling, too. If I had a bike.

Oh, and I enjoy Yoga when no one is watching.

I work my butt off slinging 48 pound water bottles and am constantly on the move (I have averaged about 2,600 pounds a day over 6 years.. Even when I am stationary I am dancing around to my mp3 tunes. I use alot of energy during a regular day. Mentally and physically.

At my job, you move you @$$ or you are useless.

Doing actual exercises would be a break for me.

also the biggest thing i have learned by working at a gym for 13 years has been through obeservation. You can clearly see the difference in persons no matter what age level that has maintained some level of activity there whole lives, against those who havent. Not saying these people are out running marathons etc, but they have maintained some activity in life. It makes for a better quality of life as we age.

LOL Now we know how you keep that lythe figure Krup. LOL wait until you retire and you have to make yourself move then it gets a lot harder even if you do have a high energy metabolism. When it shifts it really becomes a chore. I was always the skinny kid young adult that could eat anything but now evry calorie counts.

Exercise is both of body and mind.

For the body, I have quite a gym in my basement and I let the Weider system guide me in that. However, due to circumstances, I have not used it in a few months.

For mental exercise, I started Lucid Dreaming at about 8, and that led me to language, logics and analogics.

What does lucid dreaming have to do with language, logics and analogics?

I loathe walking or biking and not going anywhere!
I love walking, biking, swimming, surfing, etc. to "somewhere"!

I hear that! I am 6'2" and am as fat as I have EVER been. 160 pounds. (my middle aged, 3 pound weight gain, kicked in when I was 40.)

Middle aged spread is a merciless b!tch.

I learned it is an analogic. I was guided by answers I received to questions I asked. When I was in college, I was actually tested there on something I would not understand for decades, the Trinity. However, it is a use of language beyond what we can generally comprehend, unless one is very precise in what they ask.

How is lucid dreaming analogic? What does that mean?

Also, what would be your suggestion to someone who wants to do more lucid dreaming?
