Have you ever noticed that when you have a drink your programming skills plummit into the abyss...into the void like a NullPointerException (assusming your not a C/C++ programmer)... Have you ever noticed this??? This is why I am posting in the forums and not on my compiler at the moment. Something simple such as checking to see if the String[] args args[0] cell contains anything becomes absolutly impossible. Moments like this remind us how truly difficult what we do is...

Yeah... You could fake it I suppose. I am not sure why you would though. i was not whistling dixie.. LoL It is extrremly difficult to program while under the influence...Hence I am admiring animations from previous days and not writing new programs tonight. LoL

I can't even code properly if I'm too tired, I can't imagine trying to do it drunk.

I'm not exactly an alcohlic, but when you get drunk, you're mind tends to plummet into the abyss. That i know all too well. lol

Yeah I tried coding last week sometime after a couple beers. And not too long before that again after a couple drinks and it did not pan out too well. It doubles difficulty of the program. I was doing some stuff for school and practice and did manage to get some stuff done shortly after typing that above. Nothing major.

Yeah video games can be tricky while your intoxicated. Programming is much harder. you have to keep track of where your at and what you just did ect.. You have to map it out in your mind because certain things come natural when to that do not when your drunk.

I'd like to share: alcohol not only diminishes capabilities but also relationships. You working relationship is the foundation for your well being. I'm sure you know that! Its not new to you. :(

I respect and admire your courage to share. I've been to Alanon; by choice and encountered so much personal growth with reading material. Yeahp, growth is a personal choice. But first, consider compassion and love to yourself. We are not perfect, friends are not perfect but not because of it, we love ourselves less or love someone else less.

What I know is: there is a program to help you master to stay away from alcohol. You are not alone, as you can tell.
Personally, I would encourage you to look into Yoga!
You have an awareness ,now , of consumption of alcohol. Yoga takes you to an incredible awareness of your whole being. A Diamond of the whole being! You are a Diamond in process. flowerforyou
By the way, sometimes, I've worked very close with MIT
Consultants. You are extraordinary people! Team players! My best experience at Stanford Medical school of Behavioral Science. happy

Well Sophia,

When I wrote that I was struggling with a space ship for space invaders in graphic designing. This is a tricky process after a 40. I was not being overly serious when I started the post. I have a drink every now and then, and agree that it does dull since of well being and awareness issues and can be happier while not drinking especially after a year or two of heavy drinking. But that is not where I am at right now. I go to school, I study information and technology and program. Coding in actual programming can be very challenging anything that impairs can definetly hinder performance. But yeah yoga does not sound bad I would not go to a formal school but if someone wanted to show me on the living room in the dark while nude I'd pay attention.

Ok I might check it out. I have a ton of school lined up. I am working on my degree plus I am working on a certificate in Java from UCSD. The classes are so expensive though I only can take a class every now and then otherwise I would have it completed in about nine more weeks which is when I am getting my Assoicate's. But i check these things out every now and then with my current schedule. E-mail me if you want to.

I do not drink very often. When I does it has quite an effect on me. As a matter of fact I did not have a drink when I finished my finals last week and I would have otherwise. It has an effect on me becuase I do not drink often so I only drink very often becuase of that. I like it better when I only drink every now and again anyway.

Oh hey guess what you guys.. I am getting my programming degree here pretty soon, I graduate on 4-1, after that I start software engineering. And I just talked to a school in Northern AZ to start a degree in Astro Physics.

I know most of you do not know me too well so you might not care, but I have been coming in here for almost two years now so you might want to send a couple of mingles best to jump out of a cake for me. Just a thought.
