Topic: Senator Snowe Retiring

Olympia Snowe from my home state of Maine has chosen not to run again, saying the partisanship in the Senate prevents getting things done. She would have been a shoo-in for yet another term. I would be surprised if the Republicans can hold onto this seat. I'm a Democrat and have usually voted against her, but she has my respect. She has proved herself willing to do whatever it takes to actually help people. She was a worthy heir to Margaret Chase Smith.

Moderate republicans would soon be extinct, fortunately a new breeding program has recently been started to bring their numbers back to healthy levels.
