Since I am limited to email submissions, I use more of the IM's to get across. But as of late no one seems to get my im's is this a general problem? or is it just me?

Do you mean, they do not accept
the Instant Message request?

You cannot IM them if they do
not have it turned on.
(No IM button would appear on
their profile.)

Also, they would have to be online.

i only send Im's when they are online, and if the button is highlighted on there end.

So, they simply do not 'Accept' the IM I gather.
No telling why.

I know that I do not accept IM's from
anyone I do not know, and indeed turned
it off for this reason.

The forums are the key to meeting people.

thats a possibility, but from what o gather some of the recipients, cant answer back due to problems with IM's on there end..and have to rely on boring yahoo.

A scammer will attempt to get you
off-site and onto Yahoo.
Be aware :-)

Hi tara, I pasted in a wee HOWTO for IM:
----
HOW DO I IM?
First, you must have YOUR 'Instant Messaging'
turned ON:
http://mingle2.com/user/enable_im
(Or >>My Account>>Settings>>Turn ON IM)

Then you would go to the profile of the person
with whom you wish to chat.

Under their picture there is an orange button
'Instant Message' which you would click on and
the request to Instant Message is sent.

If there is no orange button labelled 'Instant
Message' it could mean one of two things.

The person does NOT have 'Instant Messaging'
turned ON.
(In which case you could email them and request
they turn it ON.)

Or, the person is in 'Stealth Mode.'
---

What I am wondering tara, is if it could
be something missing in the above, like
someone is in 'Stealth Mode' or has
THEIR IM turned OFF, I assume it would
not be yours OFF :-)

Members in stealth mode can initiate an im conversation, however, members in stealth mode will not receive any incoming im (initiated by another member) simply because the option is not visible on profiles of members in stealth mode.

If a member in stealth mode initiates an im conversation, those conversations/back and forth, should work, provided the intended recipient has the feature on, and is not in stealth mode.
