Fanta nice "report" on Afghanistan and it's sometime tumultuous
relations with our country. I just have one thing to add though...I think looking back in a historical perspective, I'm not sure if the Soviets (or us for that matter) would expend such energy and money for just a "warm water port". You have to remember that late 50's into the early 60's we were at the height of the Cold War and it was more about strategic positioning of ballistic missles and sub bases..then just having a port. I think history will show that the whole Cold War was rediculous....but it was what it was...laugh Like you said 20/20 hindsight is just that.Anyway..Good post and I'll see ya arounddrinker drinker drinker drinker drinker

Yes, Redwine it was mostly strategic posturing, but you have to realize the Soviets do not have any good ports.
Cold War strategic posturing was the #1 reason. Creation of a Buffer State, by both sides!drinker drinker
